Consumer Description

THE 3RD DOOR HANDLE/LATCH ON OUR EXTENDED CAB 2003 CHEVY S-10 RECENTLY BROKE FOR THE FOURTH TIME. THIS OCCURS APPROXIMATELY EVERY 8-10 MONTHS. THE VEHICLE IS USED FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY. THE 3RD DOOR IS OPENED/CLOSED APPROXIMATELY 10 TIMES A WEEK. THE DEALER HAS WORKED WITH US ON THIS AND WE DO NOT BELIEVE THAT IT IS A SERVICE DEPARTMENT ISSUE. WE BELIEVE THAT THE PART IS EITHER DESIGNED IMPROPERLY OR MANUFACTURED FROM SUBSTANDARD MATERIAL. WE ARE DEEPLY CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IF A PERSON OR ANIMAL WAS BEING TRANSPORTED IN THE EXTENDED CAB AREA AND THE HANDLE/LATCH FAILED IN AN EMERGENCY WHERE A SPEEDY EXIT FROM THE VEHICLE WAS CRITICAL, LOSS OF LIFE COULD OCCUR. WE BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS IMPORTANT AND REQUIRES AN IMMEDIATE SOLUTION. *TR *UPDATED 12/12/07 *BF UPDATED 12/12/07
