Defect: Pure Sports Distributing Inc. (Yamaha of Hawaii) is recalling certain 2022 MT-09 Tracer GT, 2021-2025 MT-09 SP, 2021-2025 MT-09, 2022-2023 and 2025 MT-10 SP, 2022-2024 MT-10 and 2022-2024 XSR900 motorcycles. The brushes inside the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) may slide excessively due to improper ECU programming, possibly causing unstable idling or an engine stall.
Consequence: Unstable idling or an engine stall can lead to loss of control of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of an injury or crash.
Remedy: Dealers will reprogram the engine control unit (ECU) software and replace the TPS, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 6, 2025. Owners may contact Yamaha of Hawaii customer service at 1-808-498-8248.
