PICKED UP MY BRAND NEW 2005 (4 MILES ON ODOMETER) VOLVO S60 ON JUNE 9 AT DEALER. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THE NEXT AM, AND WITH 37 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, I APPROACHED AN INTERSECTION. I BRAKED NORMALLY AND CAME TO A STOP. WITHOUT WARNING, THE ENGINE RACED AND THE CAR DROVE INTO THE INTERSECTION. MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE. I NARROWLY MISSED AN ON COMING VEHICLE. I REGAINED CONTROL AND GOT THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. THE CAR SEEMED TO OPERATE NORMALLY AND I TRIED SEVERAL STOPS AND STARTS WITHOUT PROBLEM. I CONTINUED TOWARDS WORK AND ABOUT 5 MILES LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AT ANOTHER INTERSECTION. WITHOUT WARNING THE ENGINE RACED (TACH SHOT UP) AND THE CAR TOOK OFF ON ITS OWN.
