Defect: AN INADEQUATE WELD SIZE AT THE INTERSECTION OF A 3/8 INCH VERTICAL ANGLE AND A 1/4 INCH DIAGONAL ANGLE NEAR THE BOTTOM ON THE PINTLE HOOK PLATE ASSEMBLY COULD FAIL.
Consequence: WELD FAILURE COULD RESULT IN SEPARATION OF THE REARPOTION OF THE PINTLE PLATE FROM THE LEAD TRAILER, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE TOWEDTRAILER TO CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.
Remedy: REWELD AND REINFORCE THE JOINT ON THE PINTLE HOOK.
