Additionally, depressing the brake pedal did not immediately slow or stop the vehicle. The driver was eventually able to regain control of the steering wheel and stopped the vehicle. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the failure was no longer present and the vehicle operated as normal. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer and an engineer from the manufacturer was sent to evaluate the vehicle. The contact was informed that during the incident the lane assist system had activated and attempted to compensate when the driver attempted to steer the vehicle back into the proper lane.
