All at once the windows, moon roof, blinkers, reverse lights, running lights and brake lights stopped working - also the automatic headlight function stopped working and we must turn on and off the headlights or risk draining the battery. It's interesting to note that the flashers work, but the blinkers do not. The wipers, radio, cruise control, etc. are all fine. It appears all fuses associated with these items are intact - I don't know how to check the viability of the relays, but have been told it could be a relay and or a ground wire. I've purchased a new multifunction blinker headlight replacement switch AND a master window replacement switch to see if this will resolve the issue - but the fact that it happened all at the same time concerns me that it could be electrical or wiring. All the wires under the dash are intact.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL.
I WAS LEAVING A PARKING LOT AND WAS GOING TO ENTER A ROAD. I WAS COASTING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT AT ABOUT 10 MPH BECAUSE I HAD TO STOP BEFORE ENTERING THE CROSS ROAD. WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO STOP, THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE HARD AND IT SOUNDED LIKE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM KICKED IN WHILE THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND KEPT PUSHING THE CAR. THE ACCELERATION PUSHED ME INTO THE CROSS ROAD WHILE THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS MAKING LOTS OF NOISE,. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS IN THE CROSS ROAD AT THAT TIME. I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, WHILE MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BREAK, AND THE ENGINE RPM'S DROPPED DOWN TO IDLE. I THEN PUT THE CAR INTO REVERSE ( BECAUSE CARS WERE NOW COMING ON THE ROAD I WANTED TO ENTER). AND I BACKED UP NORMALLY ( NO...
2005 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. CONSUMER WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE RECALL INFORMATION. *MC *TR
PRODUCT BRAND/MODEL: GARMIN / STREET PILOT I5 (NAVIGATION/GPS): THERE IS A SINGLE BUT SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. MY I5 LOSES SUCTION FROM THE WINDSHIELD DAILY WITHOUT WARNING AND/OR CONSISTENT CONDITIONS (I.E. HOT/COLD/WET/DRY/MOVING/STILL). THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE RUBBER SUCTION CUP AND MY CAR IS NEW (2005 HIGHLANDER) AND CLEAN. I TOLD A NEIGHBOR ABOUT IT (HE IS AN ENGINEER) HE SAID THE DEVISES SUCTION CUP IS TOO SMALL RELATIVE TO IT'S WEIGHT AND THUS GRAVITY AND LEVERAGE OVER POWER THE VACUUM OF THE SUCTION OVER TIME (I.E. THE SUCTION CUP IS TO SMALL RELATIVE TO THE WEIGHT IT MUST HOLD UP). THIS CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS TRAFFIC SAFETY ISSUE AS THE UNIT HAS FALLEN ONTO MY LAP SEVERAL TIMES IN THE MIDST OF DRIVING MY CAR AND CAN BE A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DISTRACTION (IT COULD JUST AS EASILY FALLEN ON THE FLOOR UNDER MY BREAKS AS WELL). I HAVE CONTACTED...
MY DAUGHTER LEASED A 2005 4 CYLINDER, FWD TOYOTA HIGHLANDER IN FEBRUARY 2005, AND HAS PUT ON ABOUT 5,000 MILES. THE CAR WAS LEASED IN LOUISVILLE, KY. A FEW DAYS AGO SHE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH, AND NOTICED THAT THE GAS PEDDLE WAS STUCK, AND WOULD NOT COME UP SO AS TO REDUCE THE SPEED. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, SHE MANAGED TO REACH DOWN AND PULL THE PEDDLE ASSEMBLY UP, AND DECELERATION OCCURRED. THE NEXT DAY THIS SITUATION REPEATED 2 MORE TIMES, THE LAST TIME BEING ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE "REPAIRED" UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER FIXED THE ASSEMBLY, AND STATED THE ASSEMBLY HAD COME LOOSE. WHILE THE REPAIR SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL TO DATE, AND THE DEALER WAS VERY COOPERATIVE, I THOUGHT YOU FOLKS SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS "DEFECT" AND BE ALERT TO THE POSSIBILITY OF MORE SUCH...
