TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 (NA) SUZUKI HAYABUSA MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MOTORCYCLE WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY HAD BEEN OVERCHARGED AND LEAKED SULPHURIC ACID. AS A RESULT, THE BATTERY AND RECTIFIER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V018000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. THE BRACKET HOLDING THE TIP OVER SENSOR BROKE. MOTORCYCLE BECAME TOTALLY DISABLED AND STALLED. CONSUMER HAD THE MOTORCYCLE TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND THE MOTORCYCLE WAS REPAIRED AT CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. *AK
THE BRACKET HOLDING THE TIP OVER SENSOR BROKE. MOTORCYCLE BECAME TOTALLY DISABLED AND STALLED. CONSUMER HAD THE MOTORCYCLE TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND THE MOTORCYCLE WAS REPAIRED AT CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING UNDER 30 MPH MY MOTORCYCLE'S CHAIN SNAPPED. MANUFACTURER AND DEALERSHIP WERE CONTACTED. *AK THIS FAILURE CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE UNDER SIDE OF THE BIKE TOTALING $2300. THE CONSUMER PAID FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED ASSISTANCE. *NM
