Defect: Shyft Group is recalling certain 2020-2022 Spartan RV Chassis K1 and K2 recreational vehicles. The rear suspension mounting fasteners that attach the rear-drive axle to the rear suspension may not have been tightened properly, which could allow the fasteners to loosen or break.
Consequence: Loose or broken suspension fasteners can allow the rear-drive axle to shift out of place, increasing the risk of a crash.

The contact also stated that the water heater failed to operate as needed. The RV had been taken to several RV dealers to be inspected; however, there were no defects found. The contact reached out to the chassis manufacturer, the RV manufacturer, and the water heater manufacturer but received no assistance. The RV was not repaired. The failure mileage was 28,000.

The contact stated that the low voltage battery warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure also occurred whenever the vehicle was started. The contact stated that the electrical failure had become a recurring failure. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the controller used to charge the vehicle was defective. The contact stated that the battery had overcharged and melted the battery terminals. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure.
