| 2,563 vehicles affected

Defect: ON CERTAIN MOTORHOMES BUILT ON VOLKSWAGEN EUROVAN CHASSIS, THE ENGINE COOLING FANS COULD FRACTURE AND BREAK APART.

Consequence: IF THE FAN FRACTURES OR BREAKS THIS COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ENGINE COOLING FANS USING A CRADLE ASSEMBLY. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MARCH OR APRIL 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT VOLKSWAGEN AT 1-800-822-8987 OR WINNEBAGO AT 641-585-3535.

FAILURE OF COOLING FAN CAUSED FAILURE TO RADIATOR AND ENGINE.*MR THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE FAN ISSUE. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE NEAREST DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HAVE A LIFT FOR THE VEHICLE IN CASE SOMETHING WOULD FALL INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, EVEN THOUGH EARLIER THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD A LIFT WAS NOT NEEDED. THE COOLING FAN WAS EVENTUALLY REPLACED BY ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP. *JB
FIVE MONTHS AGO CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL LETTER, FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE FAN RADIATOR. THERE WAS NO DEALERSHIP NEAR TO HIS HOME WHICH COULD FIX THE RECALL. MANUFACTURER FOUND THE NEAREST DEALER ABOUT 150 MILES AWAY FROM CONSUMER'S HOME. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE CONSUMER FELT A LITTLE VIBRATION, HE PULLED OVER TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND DISCOVERED THE RIGHT FAN BLADES HAD BROKEN FROM THE ELECTRICAL RADIATOR. PH *CB *JB
THE VEHICLES RIGHT FAN BLADE BROKE CAUSING A VIBRATION IN THE CAB. *MR ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THE VEHICLES LEFT AND RIGHT FAN BLADE BROKE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLES CAB/COACH TO VIBRATE. *CB *NLM
