C.A.R.C. REAR DIFFERENTIAL PINION BEARING RETAINER NUT LOOSENED WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT LEVEL ROAD. UPON DECELERATION A LOUD HOWL WAS HEARD. UPON DISASSEMBLY THE PINION SHAFT TAPERED ROLLER BEARING CAGE HAD RELEASED ROLLERS INTO THE RING GEAR AREA. . IF THEY WERE TO HAVE MOVED INTO THE GEAR MESH IT WOULD HAVE LOCKED THE REAR WHEEL, CAUSING A DEADLY CRASH. THE PINION BEARING PRELOAD NUT WAS FOUND LOOSENED AND TOTALLY OFF THE THREADS LAYING IN THE HOUSING. IT'S CRUSH LOCKING RING WAS NOT ENGAGED AND STAKED FULLY INTO THE RETAINING GROOVES. THE UNIT IS NOT REPAIRABLE AS PARTS AND TOOLS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO THE DEALER.
