Defect: ON CERTAIN CLASS A MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON WORKHORSE CHASSIS,THE BATTERY CABLES MAY NOT BE SECURED PROPERLY INSIDE OF THE CHASSIS' FRAME RAIL. THE BATTERY CABLES MAY BE LOCATED TOO NEAR THE ENGINE EXHAUST.

Consequence: THIS COULD POTENTIALLY MELT THE BATTERY CABLE AND CAUSE A BACK FEED THROUGH THE CHASSIS 12V SYSTEM WHICH COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR LOSS.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BATTERY CABLE TO SEE IF THE CABLE IS PROPERLY MOUNTED INSIDE OF THE CHASSIS FRAME RAIL. IF NECESSARY, THE BATTERY CABLE WILL BE MOUNTED SECURELY IN EXISTING HOLES IN FRAME RAIL FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL...

Defect: CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON WORKHORSE CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH ACTIA CORPORATE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 101, 'CONTROLS AND DISPLAYS,' AND NO. 105, 'HYDRAULIC AND ELECTRIC BRAKE SYSTEMS.' IF THE BRAKE FAIL INPUT FALLS BELOW A VOLTAGE OF 1.5V, THE BRAKE FAILURE LAMP AND ALARM WILL BE ACTIVATED. ALSO...

Consequence: AT NIGHT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS MAY FAIL AND THE DRIVER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR WHICH COULD INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Recall 06V361000 — ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

| 2,941 vehicles affected

Defect: ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON WORKHORSE CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH GM 8.1L V8 ENGINES, IMPROPER HARDENING DURING THE HEAT TREATMENT PROCESS CAN CAUSE THE FUEL RAIL PULSE DAMPER RETAINER CLIP TO FRACTURE, RESULTING IN INADEQUATE RETENTION OF THE DAMPER. IF THE DAMPER BECOMES LOOSE, FUEL COULD BE PUMPED BY THE FUEL PUMP INTO THE UNDER HOOD AREA.

Consequence: IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD RESULT.

Remedy: WORKHORSE IS HANDLING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN (PLEASE SEE 06V225). DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL RAIL PULSE DAMPER RETAINER CLIPS ON THESE ENGINES FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WORKHORSE AT 877-294-6773 OR MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

THE BRAKES ON MY 2004 MONACO MONARCH MOTORHOME EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE FAILURE. ON FRIDAY JULY 2, 2010, THE FRIDAY BEFORE THE 4TH, WE WERE STUCK IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC. AS WE INCHED ALONG I STARTED TO HEAR A SQUEAK, I THOUGHT IT WAS COMING FROM MY MOTORHOME BUT COULDN'T TELL FOR SURE. TRAFFIC FINALLY STARTED TO MOVE BUT I NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE COULDN'T GAIN SPEED. WE FINALLY STARTED TO ACCELERATE WHEN I NOTICED TRAFFIC BEGINNING TO STOP AGAIN, AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WOULD NOT GO DOWN AT ALL. I RELEASED THE BRAKES AND APPLIED THEM AGAIN AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I WAS QUICKLY APPROACHING THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME SO I STARTED TO PUMP THE BRAKES RAPIDLY. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE MOTORHOME WITHIN INCHES OF THE TRUCK. I MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE ROAD WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. WHEN I GOT OUT AND INSPECTED THE WHEEL IN QUESTION THERE WAS A DISTINCT BURNING ODOR AND YOU COULD SEE BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE WHEEL AREA. THERE WAS AIR LEAKING FROM THE TIRE BECAUSE THE BRAKES HAD GOTTEN SO HOT THEY MELTED THE AIR PRESSURE SENSOR AND LET THE AIR OUT. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THERE IT SITS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 MONACO MONARCH RECREATIONAL VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A RECALL IN MAY 2009. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO PERFORM THE RECALL WERE NOT AVAILABLE. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 40 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PULL TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT DRIVER INTENT. THE TEMPERATURES BECAME ABNORMALLY HIGH AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER MADE TEMPORARY REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE PARTS WERE AVAILABLE TO ADDRESS THE RECALL REPAIRS. A LITTLE LESS THAN ONE YEAR LATER, THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AGAIN AND STATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,208 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,300.
