Defect: CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 110, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS." THE FEDERAL IDENTIFICATION TAG IS INCORRECT. THE TAG STATES THE RIM SIZE IS 22.5X6.75G RANGE. THE CORRECT RIM SIZE IS 22.5X7.5F RANGE.

Consequence: AN INCORRECT RIM COULD BE PLACED ON THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A TIRE BLOWOUT INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Defect: CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON WORKHORSE CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH ACTIA CORPORATE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 101, 'CONTROLS AND DISPLAYS,' AND NO. 105, 'HYDRAULIC AND ELECTRIC BRAKE SYSTEMS.' IF THE BRAKE FAIL INPUT FALLS BELOW A VOLTAGE OF 1.5V, THE BRAKE FAILURE LAMP AND ALARM WILL BE ACTIVATED. ALSO...

Consequence: AT NIGHT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTS MAY FAIL AND THE DRIVER MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR WHICH COULD INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Recall 06V361000 — ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

| 2,941 vehicles affected

Defect: ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON WORKHORSE CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH GM 8.1L V8 ENGINES, IMPROPER HARDENING DURING THE HEAT TREATMENT PROCESS CAN CAUSE THE FUEL RAIL PULSE DAMPER RETAINER CLIP TO FRACTURE, RESULTING IN INADEQUATE RETENTION OF THE DAMPER. IF THE DAMPER BECOMES LOOSE, FUEL COULD BE PUMPED BY THE FUEL PUMP INTO THE UNDER HOOD AREA.

Consequence: IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A FIRE COULD RESULT.

Remedy: WORKHORSE IS HANDLING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN (PLEASE SEE 06V225). DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL RAIL PULSE DAMPER RETAINER CLIPS ON THESE ENGINES FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WORKHORSE AT 877-294-6773 OR MONACO AT 1-800-685-6545.

I OWN A 2004 MONACO LAPALMA MOTOR HOME ON A WORKHORSE CHASSIS MODEL # P32122 WITH LESS THAN 17,000 MILES. THIS PAST NOV. WHILE ON A TRIP WE SMELLED BURNING AND I SOON STARTED TO LOSE MY BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKES STARTED TO FREEZE UP. UNDER FULL THROTTLE, BARELY MOVING ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY, I WAS JUST ABLE TO GET INTO OUR CAMPGROUND. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED OUR WORKHORSE DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THAT WORKHORSE WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND ADVISED US TO LET THE BRAKES COOL DOWN AND THEN PROCEED WITH CAUTION, SINCE THIS PROBLEM COULD OCCUR AGAIN. WE WERE ABLE TO ARRIVE HOME SAFELY BY DOWNSHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND USING THE BRAKES AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. AFTER THIS THE MOTOR HOME WAS PUT IN WINTER STORAGE. IN DECEMBER, I RECEIVED AN "INTERIM NOTICE" (SAFETY RECALL 50901-C FROM WORKHORSE. I HAVE HEARD NOTHING FROM THEM SINCE. I CALLED THEM LAST WEEK AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE WORKING WITH THE BRAKE SUPPLIER (BOSCH) AND THAT THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED A REMEDY YET. AT THIS TIME, WORK HORSE WILL FIX THE AFFECTED BAD PARTS REPLACING THEM WITH THE SAME STYLE EQUIPMENT. THIS IS NOT BE SATISFACTORY SINCE THE SAME PROBLEM COULD OCCUR AGAIN AT ANY TIME. I FEEL THAT WORKHORSE AND BOSCH ARE DELIBERATELY DRAGGING THEIR FEET ON THIS PROBLEM AND THIS COULD CAUSE MORE SERIOUS PROBLEMS. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS LONG TO REPAIR A SERIOUS PROBLEM LIKE THIS. YOUR HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED IN HELPING TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. WE PLAN TO USE THE MOTOR HOME IN THE NEAR FUTURE, BUT CANNOT USE IT IN THE PRESENT CONDITION AND THEIR TEMPORARY FIX IS NOT SATISFACTORY. *TR
