TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MERCURY MONTEGO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL MOUNTING BRACKET FRACTURED, DETACHING PART OF THE FRAME AND MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE ALSO CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE. THE CONTACT GAINED CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL MOUNTING BRACKET AND PART OF THE FRAME WAS CORRODED AND FRACTURED. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT BECAUSE OF LIABILITY ISSUES, THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
