Vehicle while driving using adaptive cruise control will sometimes fail to recognize stopped vehicles directly in front of the vehicle, within standard detection range. Continue to accelerate rapidly towards a stopped vehicle and fail to slow, stop, or activate emergency braking requiring driver intervention. Commonly occurs when following a vehicle slowing due to traffic, the vehicle in front that is being accurately tracked will change lanes- there will be another vehicle in front that may be stopped. The Jeep accelerates failing to see the stopped vehicle. This condition occurs once every couple of days.
