The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle temporarily lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring increasingly while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power. The contact veered to the side of the road and was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.
