TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE PASSENGER SIDE VISOR BEGAN TO SMOKE PROFUSELY. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND INSPECTED. THE CONTACT OBSERVED SIGNS OF AN ELECTRICAL FIRE DUE TO THE COMPONENTS OF THE VISOR BEING MELTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,143. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
