The contact owns a 2013 Jayco Seismic trailer hauled by a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the hanger for the springs that hold the axle had fractured without warning. Due to the failure, the axle began to hang from underneath the vehicle. The contact suspected that the failure occurred while towing the trailer; however, he only noticed the failure after parking. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by email and the contact had yet to receive a response. The vehicle had yet to be serviced or diagnosed. The failure mileage was unknown
WE HAVE HAD THREE SEPARATE INSTANCES WHERE THE LEAF SPRING HANGER HAS COMPLETELY SHEARED OFF. AFTER HAVING DISCUSSED THIS WITH OTHER SIMILAR OWNERS, IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE. IT IS GOING TO CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT WITH LOSING AN AXLE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT SOME POINT IF LIPPERT COMPONENTS DOES NOT ADDRESS THIS DESIGN FLAW IMMEDIATELY ON PREEXISTING UNITS. I'VE NOTICED ON NEWER MODELS THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED WITH A REDESIGN OF THE LEAF SPRING ATTACHMENT. WE WERE IN MOTION GOING DOWN I-95 AND WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO GET SAFELY OFF THE ROAD. *DT *DT CONSUMER HAS MADE REPAIRS. TOOK IT TO A LOCAL WELDING/MACHINE SHOP WAS TOLD THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW. CARFAX CANNOT PROCESS REQUEST.*JB
