While driving, the vehicle loses power, hesitates, and jerks, then stalls and shuts off without warning, especially in extreme heat and stop-and-go traffic. The failure occurs more frequently when the fuel level drops below approximately half a tank. After stalling, the vehicle will not restart until it cools down for 20–30 minutes, then temporarily operates normally before the issue repeats. Warning symptoms prior to failure include loss of acceleration, hesitation, and engine overheating. A fuel pump–related fault code has been detected. The vehicle has stalled while driving, creating a serious safety risk due to sudden loss of power in traffic. This condition matches NHTSA Recall 23V858000, which states the fuel pump may fail and cause engine stall while driving. The fuel system component believed to be involved is available for inspection upon request. The issue has occurred multiple times and is reproducible under similar conditions.

Auto stop/start struggles to start at lights or stopped traffic, rough idles and has already killed 1 battery, replaced under warranty and I'm having to charge my new one already since my car struggles to cold start sometimes! Incredibly stressful having 5 kids and 1car I spent a fortune on so it would last forever and it's a lemon I'm holding my breath doesn't strand us any time I have to break.

Our auto idle randomly will shut the entire van off. Leaving us stranded without being able to go for 15-30 seconds until we can get It restarted. There has been no warnings or codes thrown Early on it has been unable to reproduce for them when at the dealership It has been to dealership numerous times because it’s a scary safety issue with cars usually behind us honking, yelling, and holding up a finger. They did try update some software the most recent time which was unsuccessful. Now they want to put a new starter and relay and engine valve adjustment. Leaving me with the bill for something that happened in warranty since they can’t replicate it within a few minutes

The vehicle engine failed to restart after being idle for a few minutes in heavy traffic on Southern State Parkway. The vehicle’s Auto idle stop function was being utilized during this time.

MY 2023 Odyssey has 40K miles and the cam shaft bearing is deteriorating and my engine oil is full of shavings. The dealership is acting as if because I did not get my oil changed there, that it somehow isnt their fault and not covered under the warranty. This is an existing recall of these engines and nhtsa is investigating other years etc. Here is a video from the tech [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

An engine rod blew a hole in the engine block while traveling on the highway. This resulted in loss of engine power while others traveling at highway speeds around me. Additionally the vehicle was smoking heavily and smelled of burning . The vehicle only had 64000 miles with an adequate maintenance record.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine seized. The contact stated that the failure occurred while she was on the entrance ramp entering the freeway. The contact stated that she repeatedly continued to depress the accelerator pedal, and after several attempts, the engine independently started. The vehicle was driven to the contact's intended destination. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,500.

While driving 35-40 mph, the car started acting strange, shaking and multiple alerts began appearing. No cars were around me and I was able to get the car over to the shoulder quickly. (Mileage 35,483. Owned car 20 months) Messages appearing: Electric Parking Brake Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Hill Start Assist Problem, Emissions System Problem, Electric Parking Brake Problem, Electric Power Steering Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist Problem, CMBS Problem. I turned car off and on, multiple times, hoping it was a fluke, but car was shaking and messages kept appearing. I called Honda Roadside & car towed to dealership. Was told internal failure of oil pump was the problem. Techline reported Multiple vehicles with same codes and same motor have had the same problem. Replacement of spool valve, valve cover gasket & valve was the fix. This may be a...

Twice while at a stop light, when the car was in Auto Idle Stop, it suddenly shut down completely. There was no power on the dashboard. I couldn't even turn on the hazard lights. The first time, this lasted several minutes, the second time, a few seconds. After this time, the electronics spontaneously came back up and I was able to restart the engine.

Our AIS has not worked in most of the 3 weeks since we purchased it. We went on (joined) various Odyssey forums and apparently this is a known defect that Honda Corporation is denying (and can't fix). Som think it is a wrong battery in the vehicle issue or defective vehicle charger issue. Others have found a temporary workaround by opening the hood to reset it. Honda is ripping off customers for an AIS system that is defective. A class action is in order.
