Defect: CERTAIN HONEYWELL FRAM RACING BRAND HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 25, 2006, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 14, 2007, AND SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR VEHICLES LIST ABOVE. THE AFFECTED FILTERS ARE MARKED WITH A DATE CODE A61451 THROUGH A72571 SEQUENTIALLY. THE DATE CODE AND PART NUMBER APPEAR ON THE FILTER HOUSING. FRAM RACING HP4 AND...

Consequence: THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE INADEQUATE SEALING AND LOSS OF ENGINE OIL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE.

THE ENGINE WAS A 305 INSTEAD OFF THE FAVORED 350. AS A RESULT THE ENGINE USED ABOUT 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1500 MILES. THE TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED PROBLEM. THE FRONT AXLE HAD PROBLEMS. THE REAR AXLE IS THE OLD STYLE AND THE FLUID IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. AN ALTERNATIVE WAS SUBSTITUTED BUT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS BELOW 32 DEGREES THE TRANSMISSION WOULD JUMP INTO HIGH GEAR. IT ALSO WORE OUT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND AXLE BEARING. THE SUSPENSION WAS SOFT. THE SHOCKS HAVE BEEN CHANGE A FEW TIMES BUT THAT DIDN'T SEEM TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THE TAIL GATE HINGE WAS CORRODED AND THE NUTS FELL OFF. THE REAL TAIL LIGHTS WERE CROSS WIRED SO IF ON WENT OUT THEY BOTH WENT OUT. THE SEAL AROUND THE TAIL LIGHT WAS NOT SUFFICIENT AND ALLOWED WATER TO ENTER THE HOUSING. *NLM
