VEHICLE COOLING FAN CLUTCH MAKING TICKING SOUNDS DUE TO THE "PULSING OF THE SOLENOID AS DESCRIBED IN THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN RELEASED BY GENERAL MOTORS (#05-06-06-004), WHICH SPECIFIES NOT TO REPLACE FAN CLUTCH, BUT REPROGRAM THE PCM. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL COVERED BY GM, SINCE NO PARTS ARE BROKEN AND THE ONLY PROBLEM IS WITH THE MANUFACTURER'S SOFTWARE. CONSUMER CAN ONLY GET THIS FIXED BY GM DEALER. THIS EXPENSE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL BY GM SINCE IT INVOLVES ONLY THE DEFECTIVE COMPUTER PROGRAM. THE ARE NOT PARTS TO REPLACE, JUST A REPROGRAMMING OF THE COMPUTER. *TR

I HAVE A 2003 GMC ENVOY WHICH DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WITH THE FAN CLUTCH GOING BAD WHICH AN EXTREMELY LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO OWN THIS MODEL AND THE TRAILBRAZER HAD ALSO. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE COMPLETELY BACKED UP FOR A FEW DAYS AND COULD NOT GET TO MY PROBLEM BUT WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING IT OUT, HE KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND SAID THEY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MANY. I FEEL AS THOUGH THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME OF THIS PROBLEM.
