Chrome trim piece above windshield detached and flew off when traveling at highway speed on freeway.

The approximately 52-inch-long chrome trim piece that runs the length of the top of the windshield came off while driving. Because this trim piece is at the top of the windshield, and out of the view of the driver, I am uncertain exactly when it came off, but I believe it came off while at freeway speed, and that is why I do not have, or know, the location of the missing trim. A trim piece of this size (approximately 52 inches) coming off my vehicle at freeway speed would have passed over the top of my vehicle and posed a safety hazard to a motorist or motorbike rider behind me. The manufacturer’s authorized dealer confirmed the missing piece and replaced it under warranty.
