WE ARE CONTACTING YOU REGARDING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT OCCURRED WITH OUR XLR NITRO TRAILER (LAST 4 OF VIN IS 9388) ON AUGUST 30, 2015. ON THAT DATE OUR FAMILY WAS TOWING OUR XLR FROM LAKE TEXOMA, TX TO OUR HOME, A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 90 MILES. IMMEDIATELY AFTER GETTING ON THE MAIN HIGHWAY WE WERE FLAGGED DOWN BY A PASSERBY WHO SEEMED VERY EXCITED. HE SHOWED US THAT THE BATTERY HAD FALLEN OUT OF ITS NORMAL PLACE OF RESIDENCE ON THE TRAILER AND WAS SWINGING IN THE AIR ATTACHED TO THE TRAILER BY ONLY THE BATTERY CABLES. UPON INSPECTION WE OBSERVED BATTERY ACID LEAKING OUT AND COULD SEE WHERE THE BATTERY ACID HAD FLUNG ACROSS THE ENTIRE SIDE OF THE TRAILER. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION AS TO THE CAUSE, WE SAW THAT THERE IS NO METAL PLATE IN WHICH THE BATTERY WOULD BE SECURED, BUT INSTEAD A FLIMSY PLASTIC BOX. WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK PICTURES AND THEY WILL BE E-MAILED TO YOU ALONG WITH THE COPY OF THIS LETTER SENT VIA EMAIL. THE IMMEDIATE ACTION TAKEN WAS TO SECURE THE BATTERY WITH A TIE DOWN WE HAD IN THE TRAILER AND FORTUNATELY WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
