Defect: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017-2018 XLR Toyhauler, Vengeance and Wolf Pack recreational trailers equipped with an optional generator. The generator's exhaust pipe is mounted too close to the trailer's plastic underbelly.

Consequence: The generator's exhaust may melt the trailer's underbelly, increasing the risk of a fire.

Defect: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Salem, Wildwood, XLR, Sanibel, Wildcat, Vengeance, Chaparral Lite and Columbus recreational trailers. The Federal Placard may inaccurately list the tire and rim combinations that are installed on the trailers. Additionally, the Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) and the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) information may be incorrect. As such, these vehicles...

Consequence: The incorrect information may cause the operator to install an incorrect replacement rim or tire, overinflate the tire, or overload the vehicle, all scenarios that may increase the risk of a crash.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact depressed on the brake pedal but only the vehicle's brakes were engaged. The travel trailer electric brakes had failed and the "Error - Trailer Wiring Fault" warning message was illuminated. The travel trailer was pushing the vehicle forward when the contact attempted to stop the vehicle. The travel trailer brake manufacturer Dexter, was made aware of the failure and informed the contact the recommended electric brake trailer axle wiring was not installed by Forest River. The minimum recommendation for the electric brake trailer axle wiring is 10 gauge or the preferred 8 gauge. However, Forest River had installed the 12-gauge. The travel trailer was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer Forest River, were not made aware of the failure.
