Defect: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Sabre travel trailers and fifth wheels manufactured August 1, 2013, to June 30, 2014. The wires that control the brakes may have been improperly routed resulting in the wires chaffing, breaking or shorting.

Consequence: Damage to the wires that control the brakes may unexpectedly lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, a short in the wires may increase the risk of a fire.

The contact owns a 2014 Forest River Sabre RV. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the RV became very unstable and difficult to control, while swaying from side to side. The RV was taken to the local RV service center who examined the RV and diagnosed that the crossmembers were faulty. The RV was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
