Problem with fuel pump city switch keeps burning up and causing my truck to to die while I’m driving it. I have got it checked by a mechanic shop and the problem keeps happening. The fuel pump, the cut off switch and the connector and wires have all been replaced and it still continues to happen. This has been happening for years and is causing me to almost get in a car accident.
WHILE DRIVING THE SPARE TIRE RACK FELL FROM THE TRUCK. SINCE THE EVAP CANISTER FROM THE GAS TANK IS ATTACHED TO THE SPARE TIRE RACK IT TO WAS DAMAGED WITH THE CANISTER BEING BROKEN OPEN WHILE THE RACK SCRAPPED ON THE ROAD. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE FRAME IT WAS FOUND THAT THE GAS TANK SUPPORT BRACKETS HAD FALLEN COMPLETELY OFF LEAVING ONLY A THIN STRAP SUPPORTING THE GAS TANK. THE FRAME ALSO SHOWED EXTENSIVE CORROSION ON THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER WHICH SUPPORTS THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS. BRAKE LINE SUPPORT TABS ON THE FRAME WERE ALSO FOUND TO HAVE COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME AT THE WELD. THESE ARE VERY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS AND FOR HIGHWAY SAFETY AND THE TRUCKS SHOULD BE RECALLED. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ATTENTION IN THIS MATTER.
INERTIAL FUEL PUMP SHUT OFF SWITCH KEPT SHUTTING DOWN VEHICLE... IT HAPPENED TWICE IN TRAFFIC THAT I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO COAST OUT OF HARMS WAY. LAST TIME IT OCCURRED WAS PARKED AND WOULDN'T RESET, SO I ELIMINATED IT AND WIRED DIRECT WITHOUT THE SWITCH. NO PROBLEM SINCE. NO OTHER VEHICLE HAS SWITCH LIKE THIS THAT I'M AWARE OF. I ELIMINATED IT!!!
FUEL INERTIAL CUT-OFF SWITCH ACTIVATES RANDOMLY, USUALLY ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR. RESULT IS SUDDEN UNEXPECTED LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. CAN HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN OR ON THE FREEWAY. DOES NOT MATTER IF THE VEHICLE IS MOVING FAST OR SLOW. THE DEVICE CAN BE RESET BY PUSHING A BUTTON BUT THE DEVICE IS NOT ACCESSIBLE FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE WHILE DRIVING. DANGEROUS AS THE LOSS OF POWER IS TOTAL, IMMEDIATE, AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE IS CURRENTLY NO RECALL FOR THIS ITEM BUT I SEE FROM YOUR WEBSITE AND OTHER WEBSITES THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER PEOPLE.
THE INERTIA FUEL CUT-OFF SWITCH RANDOMLY TRIPS CAUSING THE TRUCK TO STOP DUE TO THE FUEL PUMP CUTTING OFF. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, TWICE ON AN INTERSTATE WHERE LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS MOVING SLOW DUE TO AN ACCIDENT. IT HAPPENED TO MY WIFE WHILE TRAVELING IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND SHE WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED BY A TRACTOR AND TRAILER. SO NOW SHE REFUSES TO DRIVE IT ANY MORE. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT UNKNOWN TO FORD. I LOOKED INTO REPLACING THE SWITCH AND THE ORIGINAL SWITCH ISN'T AVAILABLE. THE REPLACEMENT IS A NEWER VERSION AND COMES WITH A "JUMPER WIRE" AND A NEW KICK PANEL COVER, WHICH IS APPARENTLY FOR RELOCATING THE SWITCH. AGAIN THIS HASN'T CAUSED AN ACCIDENT YET, BUT THERE MUST BE A PROBLEM THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT IF THE REPLACEMENT IS DIFFERENT AND COMES WITH A RELOCATING KIT. EVERY TIME IT HAS HAPPENED THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION,...
TRAVELING ON STATE ROUT 56 ENTERED THE OFF RAMP TO CONTINUE ON STATE RT.366, AFTER STOPPING AND ACCELERATING TO 50 MILES AN HOUR THE TRUCK JUST STALLED. WAS ABLE TO COAST TO BERM OF ROAD AND WAITED TO BE TOWED, WOULD NOT START.
THE FIRST INCIDENT I WAS DROPPING MY GRANDDAUGHTER OFF AT SCHOOL WENT OVER A SPEED BUMP AND THE TRUCK STALLED OUT HAD IT TOWED HOME AND IT STARTED ONCE OFF THE TOW TRUCK.THIE SECOND INCIDENT I WAS GOING THROUGH A PARKING LOT AND WENT OVER A SPEED BUMP AND THE TRUCK STALLED OUT, HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. THE NEXT INCIDENT I WAS IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON A FEEDER ROAD AND IT STALLED WAS NEXT TO THE SERVICE STATION WHERE IT WAS PREVIOUSLY FIXED AND AFTER APOLICEMAN STOPPED TRAFFIC AND HAD ME PUSHED TO THE SERVICE STATION WAS TOLD BY A SENIOR TECHNICIAN THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THE RANGER AND TO PUSH THIS BUTTON WHENEVER IT HAPPENED.
