FRAME IS RUSTED BEYOND REPAIR AND BODY IS FINE. *TR
FRAME ROTTING, HOLES IN FRAME, REAR SPRING SHACKLES RUSTED OFF, SPARE TIRE FALLING OFF, REAR BUMPER FALLING OFF - ALL DUE TO RUST. WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION. REST OF TRUCK IN GREAT CONDITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD RANGER. THE CONTACT STATED DURING AN ANNUAL INSPECTION HE WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE FRAME AND UNDER CARRIAGE WERE CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THE FAILURE AND DECIDED TO WELD THE FRAME AND PLACE PATCHES ON THE UNDER CARRIAGE AS A TEMPORARY FIX. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
FRAME ROTTING ON 2000 FORD RANGER. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 FORD RANGER XLT WITH EXCESSIVE RUST / ROT ON THE FRAME. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRAME ENDS WITH NEW STEEL AS THEY HAD ROTTED AWAY CAUSING THE REAR BUMPER TO FALL OFF THE TRUCK. I ALSO HAD TO BUY AND REPLACE NEW LEAF SPRING MOUNTS BECAUSE THE OLD ONES HAD ROTTED AWAY. I AM NOW WONDERING IF I CAN REPAIR OR REPLACE OTHER SEGMENTS OF THE FRAME BECAUSE THERE IS EXCESSIVE RUST AND ROT IN CERTAIN AREAS. THE MAJORITY OF THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE REAR HALF OF THE FRAME, BOTH SIDES. I DO NOT SEE ANY EXCESSIVE RUST IN THE FORWARD FRAME RAILS. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE SHOCK MOUNTS, SPARE TIRE CARRIER WHICH ROTTED OFF, AND THE CROSS MEMBERS WHICH ALSO ROTTED OFF. *TR
AFTER IT RAINS I HAVE A POOL OF WATER ON THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR. IT SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM BEHIND THE DASH BOARD (FIRE WALL). HELP! POTENTIAL ELECTRICAL HAZARD. *NLM
