2024 FORD MAVERICK Steering Problems

2024 Ford Maverick 8,221 ODO miles only the steering knuckle left and right 100% full of rust corrosion

While driving my 2024 Ford Maverick on a highway at approximately 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power to the front wheels while passing a slower-moving vehicle. This caused the truck to jerk and decelerate rapidly in the oncoming lane, forcing me to veer back into my original lane abruptly. In doing so, I narrowly avoided a head-on collision, but the sudden maneuver caused the driver behind me to swerve off the road to avoid a rear-end collision. As a result, that vehicle went into a ditch and struck a small embankment. Three people inside suffered injuries, one with a fractured wrist, another with whiplash, and the third sustained a concussion from the impact. Intermittent loss of power steering. My ford dealer currently has my truck, I will gladly take an inspection The loss of power steering could have caused an accident, I wasn’t able to turn my steering wheel when I was backing into a parking spot. (I also have interior dashcam footage) Not yet Not to my knowledge The only warning I got was the last time my steering went out I got the message “ Camera is unavailable Please contact your dealership” But no other warning lights or messages

The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH and making a left turn, the steering wheel became difficult to turn a causing the driver to crash into a field fence with barbed wire at a 90-degree angle, where it came to a stop. No injuries were reported, and no police report was filed. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer, who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,500.

As I’m driving my lane assistant sometimes not picking up the lines and as I’m a little bit of a distance away, it’ll say that I’m over the line. I’m not near.

In reducing the truck's speed, there is a sharp-pitched, loud, one-click sound , when I turn the steering to the right hand side. (This sound seems to come from the driver's left side, between the front door and the rear door.) It happens very often, but not every time.
