ON APRIL 5, I WAS IN HE PROCESS OF STOPPING FOR A STOP SIGN, WHEN THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE TRUCK. I DROVE LESS THAN 2 MILES, TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD TRUCK TOWED TO AUTONATION FORD IN ST. PETERSBURG FL. MECHANIC NOT ON DUTY, BUT MONDAY (APRIL 7, 2014), SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED AND SAID NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THEIR COMPUTER CHECK, AND WAS STARTING FINE AFTER A MINOR ADJUSTMENT. I PICKED UP THE TRUCK, DROVE LESS THAN 2 MILES, WHEN IT STALLED AS I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF COMING TO A STOP, WHILE MY SPEED WAS ABOUT 30 MPH. LOST POWER STEERING BUT WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART TRUCK AND RETURNED TO DEALER. TOLD THEM I DID NOT THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC TEST, SINCE THEY HAD...

VEHICLE ENGINE (6.0 DIESEL) UNEXPECTEDLY AND SUDDENLY DIED WHILE CLIMBING A NARROW MOUNTAIN STATE HIGHWAY, JUST IN BETWEEN SWITCHBACKS THAT HAD NO SHOULDERS; HAD ENOUGH SPEED TO JUST CLEAR ROAD ONTO A SHOULDER. NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD EVER DISPLAYED PREVIOUSLY TO THIS INCIDENT. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, TOWED TO LOCAL FORD DEALER. ENGINE TEARDOWN REVEALED LOSS OF HIGH PRESSURE OIL; AND FICM FAILURE AND GLOW PLUG MODULE FAULT BY OBD AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT NOW'S CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED. STC FITTING REPLACED, DECLINED FICM AND GPM REPAIRS DUE TO COST AND VEHICLE ABLE TO RUN TO GET IT HOME. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET REVEALS THESE 3 PARTS, AMONG OTHERS ON THE 6.0 ENGINE, HAVE EXTREMELY HIGH FAILURE RATES, ALL RESULTING IN AN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER AND POTENTIAL STRANDING. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO GO SLOWER AND SLOWER AND THEN ONCE STOPPED AND PULLED OVER WHITE SMOKE CAME OUT OF TAIL PIPE. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY KNEW RIGHT OFF THAT IT WAS THE EGR COOLER THAT FAILED AND SAID IT IS A KNOW DEFECT IN THIS MOTOR AND TRUCK. THE EGR COOLER IN TURN COKED THE CENTER OF THE TURBO AND THE HEAD GASKETS FAILED. I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED MY FIRST 2005 FORD F-250 IN AUGUST OF 2012. THIS IS THE FIRST VEHICLE THAT I PURCHASED THAT WAS A FORD PRODUCT. ON AUGUST 13, 2012 I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK DOING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN I NOTICED THAT I STARTED TO LOSE POWER ON THE ACCELERATOR AND MY VEHICLE JUST SHUTT OFF ALL OF A SUDDEN. THE VEHICLE LEFT ME STRANDED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD TO WAIT ABOUT THIRTY MINUTES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD START AGAIN. I ALSO SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF EXHAUST IN THE CABIN OF MY TRUCK. I THEN WENT TO A LOCAL MUFFLER SHOP AND HAD THEM CHECK MY EXHAUST SYSTEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRUCK HAD NO EXHAUST LEAKS. I THEN STARTED TO RESEARCH THE SYMPTOMS OF MY TRUCK ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES THAT I WAS HAVING ON...
