The drivers door power door lock fails to operate either to unlock the vehicle or to lock it. This is a safety risk as the power door lock should automatically lock the door once the vehicle reaches a certain speed to help doors remain shut in roll over accidents. Automatically locking the door also provides some security to occupants for carjacking. This problem first started when the door lock actuator failed to work in freezing weather at approximately 19,000 miles. The dealer was unwilling to repair it under warranty do to not being able to duplicate the condition despite video evidence. The problem has progressed to where it now no longer functions at all. This is not an uncommon issue as I have spoke with others who have had the same failure. Previous model year trucks have has customer gotten extended warranty from Ford to cover the lock malfunctions. Customer...
The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-250. The contact stated that the clip and trim detached from around the sunroof and rear windshield. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
With ambient outdoor temperatures below freezing the front right drivers door latch/lock is frozen and not operable during at least the last 5 days. Also, the manual locking mechanism is unable to be pulled to unlocked at it sits flush with the top of door panel leaving the door not operable. It is clearly frozen as the latch/lock starts working after the truck is allowed to warmup after significant run time (usually more than 30 minutes). ***NHTSA something needs to be done with these latches. I previously owned a 2017 Ford F-250 that experienced the same freezing lock/latch issues. Ford supposedly revised the installation and some minor parts for these locks/latches. I cannot fathom how has been allowed to continue and no recall has been issued. DOOR LATCHES KEEP DOORS CLOSED, UNDER THE RIGHT CONDITIONS THE 2017 SUPER DUTY I HAD WOULD NOT ALLOW THE DOORS TO LATCH CLOSED. I...
