The contact's father owned a 2001 Dodge Intrepid. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: NHTSA Campaign Number: 03V035000 (Seats) and would like to be removed from the recall distribution list as the vehicle was totaled. The local dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated that the vehicle was donated to the local fire department and no longer exists.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 DODGE INTREPID. THE CONTACT BACKED HER VEHICLE OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT 2 MPH, PLACED IT INTO DRIVE, AND BARELY DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHEN THE DRIVER'S SEAT COLLAPSED. FRANTICALLY, SHE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT A PLASTIC PIECE ON ONE OF THE SEAT ARMS WAS STRIPPED, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE REPAIR COST WOULD TOTAL APPROXIMATELY $955. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED A MINOR STRAIN IN HER SHOULDER DUE TO THE SUDDEN SEAT COLLAPSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,968 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,500. UPDATED 07/15/08 *BF THE SEAT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY WAS BROKEN. UPDATED 07/15/08 *JB
NASTY SMELL FROM A/C, SUSPENSION/AXLES AND OTHER PROBLEMS WITH DODGE INTREPID. *BF THERE WERE SCRATCHES ON THE COVER OF THE RADIO PROGRAM, PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDOW AND DOOR LOCK, THE RIGHT PASSENGER FRONT HAD PIN HOLES, THE FRONT END WAS LOUD GRABBING AND KNOCKING, THE DRIVER DOOR WINDOW DISPLAYED A THUMP NOISE AND THE MOTOR ON THE WINDOW CONTINUED TO RUN EVEN AFTER THE WINDOW WAS CLOSED, THE PASSENGER SEAT COVER HAD A BIG GAUGE WHICH WAS MADE ON THE CONSOLE AND THE GLOVE BOX COVER DOOR, THERE WERE SPOTS ON THE INTERIOR OF THE FRONT HEAD LIGHT INSIDE OF THE GLASS, THE ENGINE WOULD SURGE, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR MADE SQUEAKING NOISES, AIR BAG LIGHT WAS INTERMITTENT, SPEAKER DAMAGE, THE RIGHT AND LEFT FRONT WINDOWS SQUEAKED MOSTLY ON THE LEFT SIDE MOTOR, THE RIGHT WINDOW DID NOT WORK AT ALL, THE LEFT REAR ANCHOR COVER WAS BROKEN, THE BRAKES...
