Rack and pinion needs to be replaced.
The electric steering rack failed. I was turning into a parking lot and suddenly there was no power steering. Luckily I had both hands on the wheel and was able to avoid an accident. A dash light came on at that time related to steering. My mechanic was able to pull the code. I was able to drive home. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I have the EPS unit right now - but it is a Core and I have 14 days to return. Please let me know ASAP if you want me to keep it. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Sudden loss of power steering without advanced notice. THE VEHICLE SCREEN WILL FREEZE AND BE STUCK. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I START THE CAR UP ALSO AS I'M DRIVING. ALSO I BELIEVE WHATEVER HAPPENING IT AFFECTING MY HEADLIGHTS AS WELL AND MY BACK UP CAMERA GOES OUT AS WELL
TODAY WHEN GETTING IN MY CAR MY POWER STEERING SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO BE SERVICED FOR A U60 14-18MY LA/LX/LD CAN BUS AS PE RECALL (REPROGRAM). I TOLD THEM ABOUT MY CONCERN WITH MY POWER STEERING. WHEN I WEN TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE I WAS TOLD THE UNIT HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT CAUSED MY POWER STEERING TO GO OUT. BUT IT HAS BEEN AN EXTREME HASSLE FOR MY TO TURN MY VEHICLE.
