| 25,128 vehicles affected

Defect: CERTAIN TRAVEL TRAILERS AND MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH A TWO-DOOR REFRIGERATOR, MANUFACTURED BY THE DOMETIC CORPORATION, MAY HAVE A DEFECT IN THE BOILER TUBE. PRESSURIZED COOLANT SOLUTION COULD BE RELEASED INTO AN AREA WHERE AN IGNITION SOURCE (GAS FLAME) IS PRESENT.

Consequence: RELEASE OF COOLANT UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS COULD IGNITE AND RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DAMON WILL BE WORKING WITH DOMETIC IN ORDER TO REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS (PLEASE SEE 06E076). DOMETIC WILL REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS BY INSTALLING A SECONDARY BURN HOUSING, A THERMAL FUSE, AND A MELT FUSE FREE OF CHARGE. DOMETIC HAS RETAINED STERICYCLE...

Recall 98V213000 — FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:MOUNTING

| 101 vehicles affected

Defect: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CLASS A AND C MOTOR HOMES. THE HARDWARE USED TO SECURE THE LIQUID PROPANE (LP) TANK WAS NOT TIGHTENED PROPERLY.

Consequence: IF THE LP TANK IS NOT SECURED, THE TANK COULD FALL TO THE GROUND WHILE THE MOTOR HOME IS BEING DRIVEN.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE MOTOR HOMES TO VERIFY THAT THE PROPER HARDWARE IS BEING USED AND THAT ALL NUTS ARE TIGHTENED PROPERLY.

1997 DAYBREAK DAMON MOTOR HOME WITH CHEVY P-30 CHASSIS 28,974 MILES. BRAKE FAILURE. EXHAUST MANIFOLD TOO CLOSE TO BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. AFTER DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AND GET OF RAMP AND STOP IN TRAFFIC, BRAKE PRESSURE BUILDS UP IN THE MASTER CYLINDER FROM HEAT EXPANSION CAUSING BRAKE PEDAL TO GET FULL PEDAL AND BRAKES TO DRAG. SECONDS LATER YOU WILL LOOSE ALL YOU BRAKES AND PEDAL WILL GO TO THE FLOOR BECAUSE THE BRAKE FLUID WILL BOIL AND GET AIR IN THE FLUID AND LOOSE BODY AND YOU CANT COMPRESS BOILING FLUID WHICH DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID BOILS AT 275 F AND DOT 4 AT 305 AND DOT 3 IS STANDARD. HEAVY TRUCKS AND MOTOR HOMES MANIFOLDS GET WHITE HOT FROM PULLING A LOAD. WHEN MASTER CYLINDER COOLS OFF A COUPLE OF HOURS YOU GOT GOOD BRAKES BACK & EVERY THING WORKS. NEED HEAT SHIELD BETWEEN MANIFOLD AND MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE LINES THEY ARE ABOUT 6 OR 7 INCHES APART. IT HAPPEN TO ME TWICE. IN YEAR 2003 AND OCT 2006. I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHICH IS A DRUM BRAKE ON THE DRIVE LINE ON TAIL OF TRANSMISSION IN ORDER TO STOP. I AM A RETIRED A S E CERTIFIED MASTER HEAVY & LIGHT TRUCK TECHNICIAN AND HAVE RAN THREE TRUCK SHOPS FOR TRUCKING COMPANIES SO I AM WELL EXPERIENCE WORKING ON TRUCKS. I CALLED 1 800-FOR CHEV HOT LINE AND REPORTED IT BOTH TIMES IN 2003 & 2006 AND ASK IF THEY HAD A RECALL ON IT AND SAID NO. MY FILE NUMBER IS 1-440-159104 AT CHEVY. SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF THEY DON'T GET A RECALL ON THIS IF IT HASN'T ALREADY. WHEN IT COOLS OFF NOBODY FIXES IT BECAUSE IT WORK PERFECT AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPEN. YOU CANT FIX SOMETHING IF ITS NOT BROKE. IF A PERSON HAS A CRASH AND EXPLAIN HIS BRAKE FAILED AND SOMEBODY CHECKS IT LATER AND FIND IT WORKING PERFECT ITS HARD TO PROVE. THANK GOODNESS I DIDN'T HAVE AN ACCIDENT BUT IT DAMAGED THE BRAKE PADS & BURNT SEALS AND BOOTS ON THE CALIPERS FRONT & REAR AND PISTON GOT HOT. BRAKE PADS PITTED FROM HEAT AND OVER TWO THIRDS NOT WORN. 28,974 MILES ON MOTOR HOME. *JB

THE REEFER OF THE R/V POSSIBLY WHEN THE ELECTRIC CAME ON, WHICH GOES FROM GAS TO ELECTRIC, MAY HAVE HAD GAS RESIDUE ON IT CAUSING THE ELECTRIC ELEMENT TO COME IN CONTACT WITH GAS RESIDUE AND CAUGHT FIRE. NLM
