Defect: THE NEUTRAL BY PASS SWITCH WHICH ALLOWS THE NEUTRAL START SAFETY SWITCH TO BE OVERRIDDEN VIOLATES THE FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 102.
Consequence: SHOULD THE NEUTRAL START SWITCH BE OVERRIDDEN AND THEBUS ENGINE STARTED WHILE IN GEAR, IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE BUS TO MOVEUNEXPECTEDLY. THIS COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
Remedy: ON VEHICLES WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, THE SWITCH IS TO BE DISCONNECTED.
