LETTER FROM SENATOR ISAKSON ON BEHALF OF RE HER 2000 CHRYSLER SEBRING THAT BURST INTO FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD *TGW
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE. WHILE DRIVING SLIGHTLY PAST 30 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT WAITED A FEW MINUTES BEFORE RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AND THEN DROVE TO A NEARBY RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED APPROXIMATELY 6-7 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WHO SERVICED THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME IS CURRENTLY OUT OF BUSINESS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND IS NOT OPERATING NORMALLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME AND TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED A ROD WAS BLOWN AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
MY A/C COMPRESSOR SHATTERED WHERE ONE OF THE PRESSURE LINES HOOKS UP TO THE HOUSING. THE COMPRESSOR WAS DEFECTIVE,WHICH YOU WILL SEE UPON INSPECTION. IT JUST CAME APART FOR NOW REASON. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME I HAVE HEARD OF THIS. THE GENTLEMEN SAID THAT IT WAS NOT UNCOMMON. HE ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT BACK WHERE I BOUGHT IT. YOU HAVE ALL MY RECORDS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE CHRYSLER HEADQUARTERS SAID THAT YOU WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. ( ITS A SAFETY HAZARD ). *NLM
