TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HORN BECAME INOPERABLE. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO CONCERNED THAT DUE TO THE HORN FAILING TO FUNCTION, IT MIGHT RESULT IN AN AIR BAG FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.
I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO ACTIVATE THE HORN AND THE HORN WOULD NOT STOP BLARING AFTER I REMOVED MY HAND. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO STOP WAS TO LEAN HEAVILY ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHERE THE HORN IS. I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH NO PLACE TO PULL OVER, SO IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. ULTIMATELY, I HAD TO REMOVE THE FUSE THAT CONTROLS THE HORN AND INCIDENTALLY THE AIR BAGS, RENDERING BOTH THE HORN AND AIR BAGS INOPERABLE. *TR
THE HORN STARTED GOING OFF BY ITSELF WHILE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT HAS GONE OFF SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THEN WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED. WILL NOT HONK WHEN PUSHED BUT WILL START HONKING RANDOMLY AFTER PUSHING THE HORN OR WITHOUT PUSHING HORN. WILL EVENTUALLY STOP SOMETIMES AFTER BEATING THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
WHILE EXITING THE DRIVEWAY, THE HORN JUST RANDOMLY BEGAN GOING OFF AND WOULD NOT STOP. NOTHING WE DID WOULD STOP IT. WE TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND BEGAN PULLING ALL FUSES AND RELAYS ASSOCIATED WITH THE HORN UNTIL IT STOPPED. WHEN WE PUT THE RELAY BACK IN, THE HORN WENT OFF AGAIN. THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP THE HORN OFF, IS TO PULL THE RELAY- OTHERWISE IT BLOWS 24/7. WE REPLACE THE RELAY WITH A NEW ONE; SAME THING- HORN BLOWING 24/7. SO NOW I AM DRIVING AROUND WITHOUT A HORN, WHICH IS A VERY DANGEROUS THING TO BE DOING. NOT TO MENTION I CAN NOT PASS A SAFETY INSPECTION WITHOUT IT. BASED ON OUR RESEARCH, THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT, IS TO REPLACE THE "GUTS" UNDER THE AIR BAG, WHICH MEANS REPLACING THE AIR BAG AS WELL. HOW IS THIS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE? CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ISSUING...
HORN BLOWS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE IN TRAFFIC OR STANDING STILL. IS DISRUPTING AND A DISTRACTION TO SURROUNDING VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
HORN/AIR BAG MODULE BROKEN. HORN GOES OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING, PARKING OR UNLOCKING/LOCKING THE DOORS. I DROVE INTO A GARAGE ON THE WAY TO WORK AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE HORN/AIRBAG MODULE WAS BROKEN. THE ESTIMATE WAS $1100; HOWEVER, I OPTED FOR THE LESS EXPENSIVE, UNSAFE REMEDY AND JUST HAD HIM DISCONNECT THE HORN. (BIG SAFETY HAZARD). THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS AND IM CURIOUS WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. ITS CLEARLY A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, I SCARED AN ELDERLY DRIVER THIS MORNING, MY HORN WAS BLOWING NON-STOP AND SHE FROZE IN THE INTERSECTION. VERY UNSAFE! *TR
WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT WHEN HORN WENT OFF BY ITSELF. DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME YELLED BACK AT ME IN ANGER ASKING WHAT IS MY PROBLEM. TOLD HER MY HORN JUST WENT OFF AND I CANT TURN IT OFF. FINALLY AFTER HITTING THE HORN PAD A NUMBER OF TIMES IT STOPPED. ANOTHER TIME I BEEPED THE HORN IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE AND THE HORN WOULDN'T STOP. COUPLE DAYS AGO I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET WHEN THE HORN WENT OFF AND I HAD A HARD TIME GETTING IT TO STOP. NOW THE HORN WILL NOT WORK WHEN PUSHING THE HORN PAD. *TR
HORN CONTINUOUSLY BLOWS. PULLED FUSE TO STOP HORN BLOWING AND DISABLING THE AIR BAG. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM THE MOVIES THE HORN STARTED TO BLOW ON IT'S OWN ACCORD. SINCE THAT INCIDENT IT HAS DONE THIS THREE TIME. I HAVE TO PULL UP ON THE AIR BAG COVER ON THE STEERING WHEEL HOUSING TO STOP IT. THIS MORNING IT STARTED GOING OFF AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE ADVISED I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR SINCE IT IS HOUSED WITH THE AIR BAG. MY MECHANIC DID UNHOOK THE HORN FOR ME WHICH IS A BIG SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE READ THAT THIS ALSO DISENGAGES THE AIR BAG. *JB
AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING THE HORN BLOWS AND STAYS ON LIKE IT'S STUCK , IT WILL DO IT AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE PARKED OR LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE DOORS . SOMETIMES YOU CAN BEAT ON THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND IT WILL GO OFF LIKE THEIR IS A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL WIRING OF THE HORN BUTTON . THE ONLY WAY TO DRIVE THE CAR OR KEEP THE BATTERY FROM DRAINING IS TO PULL THE HORN RELAY OUT OF THE FUSE BLOCK AND THEN YOU DON'T HAVE THE SAFETY OF THE AIR BAGS . IN MOST STATES THE HORN MUST WORK IN ORDER TO PASS A VEHICLE INSPECTION . I ALSO PHONED THE CHRYSLER CORP. TO LET THEM KNOW OF THIS ON GOING UNSAFE ISSUE THAT SO MANY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE LIVING WITH AND THEY SAID THEIR WERE NO RECALLS AT THIS TIME . THERE HAS...
THE HORN BEGIN BLOWING INTERMITTENTLY WHENEVER THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED, THEN WHENEVER THERE WAS A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THEN WHILE IN THE GARAGE. BANGING ON THE STEERING WHEEL SOMETIMES STOPPED IT. LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE HORN CONTACTS THAT ARE PART OF THE AIRBAG IN THE STEERING WHEEL. REPLACEMENT COST QUOTED AS $998. ON SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I FIND MANY REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. CHRYSLER SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM AND REFUND THE COST TO ANY WHO HAVE PAID TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE HORN ON MY 2006 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE RANDOMLY GOES OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FIRST STARTED AND WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. THIS CAUSES A SAFETY ISSUE BY DISTRACTING THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE AND DRIVERS OF OTHER VEHICLES. THIS IS CAUSED BY A PROBLEM WHERE THE COMPANY LOGO THAT IS MOUNTED ON THE STEERING WHEEL NTERFERES WITH THE HORN PAD IN THE STERRING COLUMN. *TT

I HAVE BEEN CUT OFF ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE A HORN WAS NEEDED I WAS RAN OFF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES DO TO THE OTHER DRIVER NOT LOOKING IN BLIND SPOTS WHERE AS IF I HAD A HORN I COULD HAVE USED IT INSTEAD OF BEING RAN OFF THE ROAD. *TR
FAILURE OF HORN. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AT 45MPH. THE HORN STARTED OPERATING WITH OUT ANY INPUT FROM DRIVER. THE DRIVER COULD NOT TURN OFF HORN. DRIVER PULLED THE VEHICLE ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF IGNITION. THE HORN STOPPED OPERATING. AS SOON AS IGNITION WAS TURNED ON, THE HORN BEGAN TO SOUND ONCE AGAIN. DRIVER TURNED OFF IGNITION AND REMOVED THE FUSE FOR THE HORN. DRIVER CONTINUED ON WITH THE HORN DISABLED. CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SAID THE CLOCK SPRING AND/OR HORN CONTACTS UNDER STEERING WHEEL COVER WERE THE PROBLEM. *TR
UPON STARTING THE CAR THE HORN SOUNDS. UNTIL REPAIRED, THE TEMPORARY SOLUTION WAS TO REMOVE THE HORN FUSE, BUT THIS OF COURSE MEANT DRIVING WITHOUT A FUNCTIONAL HORN. EVENTUALLY IT WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. WE HAVE THE OLD PARTS. *TR
THE HORN ON MY 2006 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE NO LONGER WORKS WHEN I PUSH THE HORN MANUALLY, BUT IT DOES BLOW WHEN IT WANTS TO, WITHOUT ANYONE TOUCHING IT. IT BLOWS WHEN IT IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AT HOME, WHEN I AM WALKING INTO WORK, WHEN I AM SITTING AT A RED-LIGHT BEHIND SOMEONE, AND WHEN I AM JUST RIDING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THAT IS THE FIRST PROBLEM. THE SECOND PROBLEM IS THAT SINCE MY HORN DECIDED TO DEVELOP A MIND OF ITS OWN, IT HAS TAKEN OVER THE REST OF THE CONTROLS LOCATED ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THE RADIO CONTROLS NO LONGER WORK, AND THE CRUISE CONTROLS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. OF COURSE IT WORKED FINE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. IT WAITED FOR THE WARRANTY TO RUN OUT FOR THESE PROBLEMS TO OCCUR. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE HORN TO STOP BLOWING IS TO BEAT ON THE STEERING WHEEL. SO....HERE...
THIS IS THE DATE OF THE LAST INCIDENT, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 5 OTHER INCIDENTS BEFORE THIS. I OWN A 2006 CHRYSLER SEBRING CONVERTIBLE. MY HORN GOES OFF FOR NO REASON, A LONG (ABOUT 30 SECONDS AT A TIME) UNINTERRUPTED BEEP WHILE I'M DRIVING AND ALSO WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED AND OFF. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME. I RESEARCHED IT ON THE INTERNET AND APPARENTLY A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH 2005 AND 2006 CONVERTIBLES BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE AIRBAG HITS THE HORN. BECAUSE OF THIS, THE AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY. CHRYSLER DOES NOT COVER THIS DEFECT, AND IT IS A COSTLY REPAIR, FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD. NOT RECALLING THIS CAR PART IS CAUSING HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE TO REMOVE THEIR HORN FUSE, WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE ALSO. *TR
MY HORN WILL GO OFF ALL BY ITSELF AND I HAVE TO POUND THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE IT STOP. THERE ISN'T ANY CONSISTENCY TO WHEN IT WILL GO OFF. DEFECTIVE HORN ASSEMBLY 2006 CHRYSLER SEBRING TOURING CONVERTIBLE HORN GOES OFF INTERMITTENTLY (BUT NOT WHEN I WANT IT TO) AND REMAINS ON FOR 30-60 SECONDS. THIS IS A MUCH COMPLAINED ABOUT PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE WITH 2005 AND 2006 SEBRINGS.
