My check engine light came on, I took my vehicle to Ken Ganley Chevrolet because that is where I purchased it. They claim they have no record I bought it there and at first refused service. I provided my loan documents that state I purchased it. Tim was in the service department, I brought the car in and he had it looked at. He said the issue is the turbocharger, which is a known issue with this year/make/model that GM knows about. The repair was under warranty, completed and the car returned to me. Less than 2 weeks later the check engine light came on and the diagnostic gave the same error. I took it back to the dealership and I got 3 different answers. One person told me it was an exhaust issue that was causing the turbo to overheat (the car is kicking out excessive amounts of carbon...
The vehicle check engine light came on. Engine light is for a repair to the turbo charger. After looking online I noticed some of the 2017 and 2018 Chevy Trax cars are afftected however the VIN for my car is not included. I want to report the problem to see if my car can be checked to see if it's a faulty part.
I had the car diagnosed and this is the issue.
Engine oil cooler leaking with no dash lights causing burning plastic fumes only when sitting at an idle to enter car cabin causing passengers to feel unwell at times. With no warning lights for specific leaks or overheating warnings caused high repair bills at the shop. Also, probably causing engines to malfunction earlier than normal since the only sign is the smell of something burning when at an idle and no other warning signs that would be cause of concern to a mechanic or owner. This would only happen if the recirculating outdoor air.
I was driving between 35 and 45 mph and ran over a manhole cover. The rear of my vehicle began to fishtail. I pulled into a gas station and upon attempting to leave my vehicle failed to drive forward. The car was still on but would not move forward. I had it towed by flatbed to the local chevy dealership where it was determined that the rear suspension swing bar has separated at the weld. If I were traveling at a higher rate of speed on the highway this could have been deadly. The current recall for this problem only mentions the front control arm but for the same issue. My car has been inspected by my insurance and the incident does not match the damage and I'm fighting to not have my vehicle considered totalled. There were no other warning signs or issues prior to this.
My Trax 2018 was leaking a fluid .My mechanic advised me that it was my radiator ,compressor and condenser .My mechanic proceeded to look into this for me and said there was a special coverage to take care of this from GM .But when I took it to Serpitini they said my vin doesn’t match .So I have to pay ifor it yo get fixed .only has 52,159 miles on it. I feel I shouldn’t have to pay for these parts since they were defective ,and my car was made at another plant !!!
Engine shut off on me I've replaced battery and alternator there is a strong smell of burning plastic from engine bay before this my AC went out only was blowing hot air but car now will not start after replacement of alternator and battery only had the car for a bit now everyone is breaking on me I've had it in the shop for half the time I've had it about to call finance company and give up on vehicle
My vehicle has been giving me such a HEADACHE! I purchased the TRAX in (12/2021) and it has been in the shop for the same issue multiple times. It went in the shop in JULY and I did not pick my vehicle back up til September (2mths). the problem its having is the power steering keeps locking up and the engine and power steering lights keeps coming on. Once I come to a stop it will not pick up speed its liking I'm just sitting still and when it does start to go its taking a very slow time. I almost been in multiple accidents due to this issue. After spending thousands of dollars on rentals and Chevy service department, the issue still remains. I got the car out the shop in September and took it back a week later for the previous problem and they still cant find what...
The blower motor and blower motor resistor in this car have gone out numerous times. They do not work. Most owners of this car have it replaced multiple times, costing over $1000. This is unsafe, in both summer and winter months. During the summer, the people in the car over heat and can suffer from heat stroke. In the winter, you can't defrost your windows which can cause multiple accidents to take place. Having replaced both these parts numerous times, I believe this may be an electrical issue. Along with a parts issue.
AC NO LONGER WORKS. AC ONLY BLOWS WARM AIR NO COOL AIR. THREE YEARS IS VERY SOON FOR A CAR TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE AIR CONDITION. THERE IS NO AC. THE HEATER WORKS FINE. HOWEVER, WHEN I TURN ON MY AC THE CAR VIBRATES AND MAKES A GRINDING SOUND. FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CLUTCH MODULE SHORTED OUT. VERY EXPENSIVE PART AND IS NOT COVERED IN THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY IT SHOULD BE . WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND MESSAGE CAME ON TO HAVE THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE SERVICED. SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PUT ANY MONEY INTO A TWO YEAR OLD VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAD 38,653 MILES ON IT.
THE SERVICE AWD DRIVE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON 26,206 MILES>HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. INTERMITTENT
AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT PREMATURELY LEAKED AND IS BLOWING HOT AIR
ON 2/17, I PURCHASED A 2018 CHEVY TRAX. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 12/20/19 THEREFORE I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DIAGNOSTICS REVEALED TWO PROBLEMS BUT ONLY ONE WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. PROBLEM 1. TURBO LEAKING AT JOINT TO INLET COUPLER (COVERED). PROBLEM 2. OXYGEN SENSOR DEFECTIVE (NOT COVERED). I HAVE 63,676 MILES ON MY TRAX AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60,800 MILES ON THE OXYGEN SENSOR. MY CAR IS ONLY 1,400 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY AND I AM EXPERIENCING SO MUCH PROBLEMS. ALSO AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING THE VISUAL SCREEN GOES BLANK THEREFORE THE RADIO AND REVERSE CAMACA DOES NOT WORK. THERE WAS ALSO A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE AND THE DEALER TOOK CARE OF IT FREE OF CHARGE. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED ABOUT MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS NOT EVEN TWO YEARS OLD YET AND SO MUCH PROBLEMS. THIS CAR MUST BE...
LOWER CONTROL ARM RECALL. WAS INITIALLY TOLD THAT PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN 2-3 WEEKS. I AM NOW AT 5 WEEKS AND NO ONE CAN ADVISE AVAILABILITY OF PARTS. NO LOANER HAS BEEN OFFERED BY THE DEALERSHIP. AND THIS VEHICLE IS DRIVEN BY AN 18-YEAR-OLD SO I'M NOT CERTAIN IF THEY WOULD ALLOW HER TO DRIVE ONE ANYWAY.
VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN RECALL BUT DEALERSHIP IS FORCING MY DAUGHTER TO DRIVE VEHICLE IN THE MEANTIME. NO LOANER IS BEING OFFERED.
PURCHASED A 2018 CHEVY TRAX ON FEBRUARY 16, 2019. IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP TWICE, CURRENTLY, TO FIX AN ISSUE OF HAVING NO HEAT. GETTING READY TO SEND IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN TO TRY AND FIX THE ISSUE OF NO HEAT. VEHICLE WAS LEFT RUNNING IN THE DRIVE WAY TO HEAT UP AND DRIVEN MORE THAN 20 MILES WHILE WAITING FOR THE HEAT TO START.
