SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. DID RESEARCH AND THIS HAPPENS ALOT IN THIS VEHICLE AND YEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE ABS AND SECURITY WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, ALL THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TERMINAL BATTERY NEEDED TO BE DISCONNECTED AND RECONNECTED IN ORDER FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ON THE 2003 TRAILBLAZER MALFUNCTIONS, CAUSES THE SPEEDOMETER TO STOP WORKING AND YOU CAN'T TELL HOW FAST YOUR GOING. THE MALFUNCTIONS ALSO OCCUR WITH THE TEMPERATURE, OIL, AND GAS GAUGE. VERY DANGEROUS NOT KNOWING HOW FAST YOUR GOING. THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. *TR
THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE.I AM 3RD OWNER. 2ND OWNER HAD SAME PROBLEM. THE SPEEDOMETER FAILS TO REGISTER CORRECT SPEED. I AM CURRENTLY USING A AUTOMOTIVE SCAN TOOL TO VERIFY ACTUAL SPEED. THE MOST INTERESTING THING ABOUT THIS IS IT DOES NOT OCCUR ALL OF THE TIME. JUST WHEN I AM GETTING 19.5 MPH OR BETTER WITH A LOT OF TRAFFIC. 1 WEEK AGO I HAD 20 VEHICLES IN BACK OF ME. TURNS OUT MY SPEEDOMETER WAS 20 MILES AN HOUR OFF. I WAS GOING 35 IN A 55 MPH ZONE.GOOD THING I HAD MY SCAN TOOL WITH ME. THIS IS A PROBLEM GM HAS RECALLED OTHER VEHICLES FOR. MY QUESTION IS WHY THE NHTSA IS ALLOWING THIS. THESE ARE THE SAME CLUSTERS THAT WERE RECALLED FOR THE SILVERADO. WHY EVEN HAVE AN AGENCY AS IMPORTANT AS THIS ONE IF IT DOES NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT ALL...
OUR SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING LAST MONTH AND STARTED WORKING AGAIN A WEEK LATER. IT STOPPED AGAIN 2WEEKS AGO AND HASN'T WORKED SINCE. NOW I AM WORRIED ALL GAUGES WILL QUIT. I HAVE READ MANY OTHER OWNERS THAT HAVE SAME ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER JUST STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY. NOW IT JUST DONT MOVE AT ALL. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY MOTHERS 2003 TRAILBLAZER TOO. *TR
SUMMARY: MULTIPLE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ARE MALFUNCTIONING. THE TACHOMETER IS READING 5,000 RPM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, AND 7,000 RPM WHEN GOING 15 MPH. WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF THE GAUGE SITS AT 2,000. THE SPEEDOMETER IS CLICKING UP (NOT A SMOOTH TRANSITION TO THE CORRECT SPEED). AND IT SHOWING A LESSER SPEED THEN I AM GOING. WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWS IT IS GOING 10 MILES PER HOUR BUT WILL SLOWLY DROP DOWN TO ZERO. BOTH OF THESE MALFUNCTIONS COULD ARE A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS SHOWING 7,000 RPM, AFRAID I WAS GOING TO BREAK DOWN AND RUIN MY CAR. *TR
SPEEDOMETER, GENERATOR GAUGE, AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGE STOPPED WORKING OVER THREE YEARS AGO. I CHECKED FOR A RECALL BUT WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOT ONE ON THIS MODEL. I WAS TOLD THERE WERE RECALLS FOR OTHER CHEVROLET VEHICLES, AND KEPT WAITING FOR A NOTICE REGARDING THE TRAILBLAZER. I AM WORRIED NOW THE FUEL GAUGE WILL STOP WORKING. THE MILEAGE IS NOW AT ALMOST 81,000 MILES. THE SPEEDOMETER AND OTHER GAUGE ISSUES CREATE A VERY HAZARDOUS PROBLEM, AND IS DETRIMENTAL TO THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY CHILDREN / OTHER PASSENGERS. WHILE DRIVING, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL RISE AND FALL ERRATICALLY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. UPON INTERNET RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM TRUCK AND SUV MODELS IN THE YEARS 2003-2006. TRAILBLAZER IS THE ONLY MODEL THAT GM HAS NOT COVERED IN A RECALL FOR THIS PART MALFUNCTION. HOW CAN IT BE SAFE TO DRIVE AND NOT KNOW WHAT SPEED I AM TRAVELING AT? I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH CHEVROLET TOMORROW. THEY WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM UNTIL THEIR TECHNICIAN CAN DIAGNOSIS IT...AND CHARGE ME AN EXTRA $99.00, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM HAS ALL READY BEEN DIAGNOSED BY CERTIFIED, EXPERIENCED MECHANIC. NOW THE SPEEDOMETER IS ACTING UP AND SHOWING I AM GOING 85 WHEN I AM GOING APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES PER HOUR, OR SHOWING 30 WHEN I AM COMPLETELY STOPPED. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A CLUSTER THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT ALMOST 600.00 I TOLD GM IN CASE# [XXX] THAT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED IT BUT THEY MADE US GO SPEND 96.00 ON A GM DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE IT AND THEN 3 HOURS LATER TELL US SO SORRY, WE KNOW THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS BUT THERE IS NO BULLETIN O RECALL ON THIS SO WE CANT DO ANYTHING. A SPEEDOMETER SHOULD NO GO OUT ON A CAR, NO MATTER HOW MANY MILES AND IF IT IS NOT AN ISOLATED INSTANCE, THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THERE WAS AN INTERNAL MALFUNCTION ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED IT WOULD COST $550 FOR A REPLACEMENT CLUSTER. THE REAR PASSENGER TAILLIGHT AND PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LIGHT BURNED OUT AND WAS REPLACED. THE WATER PUMP AND SERPENTINE BELT WERE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC NOTED A BROKEN BOLT IN THE WATER PUMP THAT HELD DOWN THE HOUSING AND THE BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED. *JB

IN ADDITION, THE RPM REMAINED INCORRECT AND THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWED A FAULTY READING. THE FAILURES OCCURRED AT ANY SPEED RATE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. I OWN A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. DURING A STRETCH OF SUB ZERO TEMPERATURES, THE SPEEDOMETER IS CONSISTENTLY SHOWING INCORRECT SPEEDS. WHEN THE TRUCK IS TURNED OFF, THE SPEEDO SHOWS 60MPH. CHECKING WITH LOCAL MECHANICS, THEY ADVISE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY SEE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THEY INFORM ME THAT NUMEROUS RECALLS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE TAHOE AND SILVERADO FOR THIS SAME ISSUE IN THE 03 MODEL. I HAVE LODGED A COMPLAINT WITH CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE. CURRENTLY, NO RECALL IS IN EFFECT FOR THIS DEFECT (MY TRUCK JUST TURNED 80,000 MILES). THE ESTIMATE I'VE RECEIVED TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT IS AROUND $400 TO $600 DEPENDING ON WHO SERVICES THE VEHICLE. A VEHICLE WITH THIS TYPE OF DEFECT IS UNSAFE AND UNFIT FOR MY FAMILY TO DRIVE. MIS-JUDGING SPEED, ESPECIALLY DURING WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH (I LIVE IN THE MIDWEST)....

2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WITH APPROXIMATELY 83,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS ON THE WAY TO WORK THIS MORNING AND MY SPEEDOMETER OUT OF THE BLUE JUST STARTED READING THE WRONG SPEED. I WAS DOING 35 MPH AND IT SHOWED I WAS DOING 120MPH. THE NEEDLE THEN SHOT STRAIGHT DOWN AND NOW IT STARTS OFF AT AROUND 90-100 MPH MARK AND STILL ROTATES CLOCKWISE. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND COULD LEAD TO THE SAFETY OF ME, MY OCCUPANTS, AND OTHERS. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS $350.00 FOR PARTS AND LABOR, THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS SINCE THIS IS TOTALLY OUT OF MY CONTROL, THIS IS NOT A PART THAT SOMEBODY SHOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. SHE SMELLED FUEL FUMES COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER , AND THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED. THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. SECONDLY THE HEAD-LIGHTS FAIL WHILE DRIVING. LASTLY, THE LIGHTING OF THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL WAS INOPERATIVE. SHE CONTACTED THE GM MANUFACTURER, AND WAS REFERRED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO SEVERAL DEALERS, BUT THE FAILURES HAVE NOT BEEN REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,300. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RPM DIAL FAILS TO MOVE AND THE SPEEDOMETER IS BEGINNING TO FAIL. INITIALLY, THE SPEEDOMETER MADE A TICKING NOISE AS THE SPEED INCREASED, BUT CURRENTLY THE DIAL IS STUCK AT 40 MPH. WHENEVER THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF, THE SPEEDOMETER DIAL DOES NOT GO BACK TO ZERO. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED, THE DIAL WILL DROP TO 35 MPH. WHEN THE DRIVER ACCELERATES, THE DIAL MOVES AND REMAINS AT 40 MPH. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT IS NEVER SURE HOW FAST SHE IS DRIVING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND ISSUED AN IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN FOR THOSE WITH VEHICLES THAT HAD LESS THAN 80,000 MILES. THROUGH RESEARCH, THE CONTACT FOUND NUMEROUS VEHICLES WITH THE SAME FAILURES, BUT WITH MORE MILEAGE. SHE BELIEVES THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED BECAUSE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER...
SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING. IT WOULD FREEZE AT 120+ MPH. EVENTUALLY IT WOULD WORK IT'S WAY BACK DOWN TO 0 MPH AND WORKS WHEN IT WANTS. IT ACCURATE WHEN IT DOES WORK?? AC BLOWER QUIT BLOWING IN THE FRONT - BLOWER MODULE RESISTOR REPLACEMENT NEEDED. SEEMS TO BE POPULAR COMPLAINT ON THIS VEHICLE. AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR WENT OUT - AFFECTS INSIDE TEMP W/AC AS WELL. THIS WENT OUT 100 MILES AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED AND DEALER WOULDN'T FIX UNDER WARRANTY. ALL OF THIS OF COURSE AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER READ 110 MPH. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW MINUTES TO ALLOW THE SPEEDOMETER TO RESET, BUT IT ONLY DECREASED TO 90 MPH. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS ELECTRICAL FAILURE AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CONSOLE CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MUST USE HER GPS TO DETERMINE HOW FAST SHE IS DRIVING. SHE FEELS THAT GMC SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,734.
