ENGINE IDLER PULLEY SEIZED CAUSING SERPENTINE BELT TO BREAK WHICH RESULTED IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND LOSS OF POWER BRAKES..2 LOCAL GM DEALER PARTS DEPARTMENT'S STATED THIS IS COMMON ON THE DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE. *TR
THE LINE RUNNING FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE RADIATOR IS EXTREMELY PRONE TO LEAKING DUE TO A WEAK/IMPROPER CRIMP IN THE HOSE. AS TIME GOES ON TRANSMISSION FLUID IS DEPLETED AND COULD LEAD TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE LEAK IS WIDESPREAD ACROSS MOST ALLISON TRANSMISSIONS DUE TO A FAULTY HOSE CRIMP AND LEAKS THROUGH THE CRIMP IN THE HOSE. *TR
I PURCHASED 2006 SILVERADO NEW AND AFTER THE 1ST YEAR NOTICED RUSTING. JUST BEFORE IT CAME OFF WARRANTY (2009) THE COOLANT LINE FROM THE RADIATOR AND THE BRAKE ROTORS (FRONT AND REAR) HAD RUSTED THROUGH. HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE ROTORS AGAIN AND NOW MY BRAKE LINE BURST OPEN AS I WAS DRIVING HOME. ENTIRE UNDERCARRIAGE IS RUSTED (FRAME IS PEELING UP IN LAYERS), THERE IS RUST COMING THROUGH THE BUMPERS, ON THE WHEELS, IN THE BED, INSIDE THE DRIVER'S DOOR - BASICALLY EVERYWHERE I LOOK (I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHEVROLET IN 2010 ABOUT THE EXCESSIVE RUSTING AND WAS TOLD, AFTER INSPECTION BY LOCAL DEALER, THAT THERE WAS "NO ABNORMAL RUSTING FOUND"). I BABY THIS TRUCK (IT ONLY HAS 26,000 MILES AND IS NOT DRIVEN ON THE ROADS WHEN THEY ARE SALTED) AND KEEP IT VERY CLEAN. I AM AFRAID FOR MY SAFETY AS I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS HE COULD HEAR A TICKING SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THREE OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS WERE FRACTURED, CAUSING A LEAK THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED . THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
BOLT HEAD IS SNAPPED OFF ON THE LEFT EXHAUST MANIFOLD ON THE REAR MOST BOLT. I KNOW OF MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM AND I BELIEVE THAT THEIR SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE DEFECTIVE BOLTS USED IN THESE VEHICLES. *TR
2006 CHEVY 2500HD ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT ON FIRE 7 HOURS AFTER TRUCK WAS DRIVEN AT 4AM. TRUCK WAS TOTALED. *TR
2006 CHEVROLET 2500 PICK-UP W/8.1 MOTOR. FIRST THERE WAS FAULTY HOSES CAUSING LOW OIL WARNING TO COME ON. NOW ENGINE IS LOW ON OIL WITH 1800 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE. HAD TO PUT IN 1 1/4 QUART OF OIL. AFTER ENGINE BREAK IN. I SWITCHED TO MOBILE 1 5W30 SYNETHIC. A RECOMMENDED OIL TO USE BY CHEVROLET. DEALERS SERVICE DEPT. SAYS ITS SUPPOSE TO USE A QUART TO 2000MILES. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT WITH THE MODERN TECHNOLOGY OF ENGINES. MAYBE YEARS AGO BUT NOT NOW. IF THAT'S THE CASE THEN CHEVROLET SHOULD HAVE SAID THIS ENGINE USES OIL. I GUARANTEE YOU NOT MANY WOULD HAVE BEEN SOLD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT HEARD A PIERCING NOISE WHENEVER THE FAN WAS ACTIVATED FOR EITHER THE HEAT OR AIR CONDITIONER. THE NOISE LASTS THE ENTIRE TIME THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. THE FAILURE WAS FIRST NOTICED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH. THE CONTACT HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THIS FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,635 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,200. UPDATED 12-12-07. *KB UPDATED
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE RISING FROM THE HOOD OF THE PARKED VEHICLE. HE LIFTED THE HOOD AND FLAMES WERE PRESENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AND THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 30,000.
