The auxiliary transmission fuel pump system is prone to failure. This makes it so the start/stop feature will not work, as the vehicle will stall when stopped (causing an unsafe situation), and it cannot pass state inspection. The part is entirely unavailable from Chevy, and results in the vehicle being scrapped. There is no way to permanently bypass this system.
DUE TO FAULTY UNDERCOATING FROM FACTORY THE BACK CROSSMEMBERS ROT AND CAUSE SHOCKS TO BECOME DISPLACED AND GAS TANK TO UNSECURED ALONG WITH REAR SHAKELS TO GO THREW THE BOTTOM OF TRUCK BED.... WILL COST OVER $2500 FOR REPAIRS
THERE'S COMMON PROBLEM WITH GAS LINES AND FRAMES RUSTING OUT THE 2006 CHEVY PICKUP TRUCKS THAT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. THE PRICE FOR THE GAS LINES ARE WAY OVER PRICED AT $318.
TAKATA RECALL THE ENGINE IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH FUEL OIL PRESSURE GAUGE IS AT 80 TRANSMISSION IS SKIPPING ELECTRIC PROBLEMS SUSPENSION FAIL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING AN INSPECTION, THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LINES WERE SEVERELY CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL LINES WERE CONSIDERED A MAINTENANCE ITEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000.
BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR ON RURAL ROAD. ABLE TO STOP BY DOWNSHIFTING AND RUNNING OFF ROAD. BRAKE LINES HAD ROTTED OUT. DURING THIS REPAIR IT WAS FOUND THAT GAS LINE HAD ALSO ROTTED AND WAS LEAKING. TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS, NEARLY $2,000.00
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, AND STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. LEFT FROM THE TRAFFIC LIGHT ,AND THE ENGINE JUST STALLED, LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS. THE GAS GAUGE SHOWED THAT I HAD A 1\4 TANK OF GAS. SO I HAD IT TOWED HOME ANYWAY. THE NEXT DAY I WENT OUT TO START IT WITH NO LUCK. THEN I PUT 2 GALLONS OF GAS IN THE TANK, AND THE TRUCK STARTED RIGHT UP. NOW I KNOW THAT THE GAUGE IS 1\4 OF A TANK OFF. SOME AUTO TECHS HAVE TOLD ME THAT WHAT THEY CALL A FUEL CARD THAT IS LOCATED ON THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY IS BAD. JUST WONDERING IF THIS IS TRUE, BECAUSE IT IS A LOT CHEAPER THAN A FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. THANK YOU. *TR
WHILE LOOKING OVER MY TRUCK PRIOR TO INSPECTION I DISCOVERED THREE CROSS MEMBERS TOTALLY RUSTED THRU. THE ARE ALSO THE MAIN SUPPORTS FOR THE GAS TANK AND THE SHOCKS. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND REPLACEMENT PARTS AND THE MORE I LOOK THE MORE I HEAR HOW COMMON THE RUSTED CROSS MEMBERS ARE. I WENT TO THE LOCAL DEALERS PARTS DEPT. AND WHEN I ASKED FOR CROSS MEMBERS HE TOLD ME WHICH ONES I NEEDED AND POINTED THEM OUT ON AN ILLUSTRATED BRAKE DOWN. AFTER THE TRUCK BED WAS REMOVED I NOTICED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE IS RUBBING AGAINST THE PLASTIC GAS TANK AND IS JUST ABOUT WORE THRU THE TANK TO ABOUT THE THICKNESS OF A PLASTIC SANDWICH BAG. THE CABLE HAS ALSO RUBBED AGAINST IT'S SUPPORT BRACKET ALMOST ALL THE WAY THRU AS WELL AS INTO THE CABLE. *TR
THE RANGE INDICATOR STATED 54 MILES, YET RAN OUT OF FUEL. GAUGE READ 1/4 TANK. THE NEXT TIME RANGE WAS 89 MILES AND RAN OUT. *TR
DANGER/ WILL MY BRAKES WORK,TRUCK GO INTO FLAMES OR WILL THE FRAME BREAK IN HALF. RUST! MY 2006 CHEVY SILVERADO P/U IS SHOWROOM ON TOP AND 50 YEARS OLD ON THE BOTTOM. I AM AN AUTO TECH WITH 39 YEARS IN THE INDUSTRY AND HAVE NOT SEEN A FRAME AND WHAT'S ATTACHED TO IT RUST LIKE THIS. IM INTO BRAKE LINES, HOSES AND LABOR @ $1,000. ROTTEN FUEL LINES AND SENDER AND OH YES THE FUEL TANK STRAPS ROT AND TANK COULD FALL AND BREAK LINES ,WIRING $800-$1000. THEN TAKE TO BODY SHOP TO PAINT&SEAL FRAME $ UNKNOWN. IS THIS MY LAST GM? *TR
