TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER, WATER LEAKED INTO THE VEHICLE FROM UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE THAT THE SUNROOF WAS SUPERGLUED TOGETHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE INSPECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED.

WHILE TRAVELING A MAJOR INTERSTATE HIGHWAY TO WORK, I BEGAN TO MERGE ONTO THE EXIT RAMP. WHILE DOWNSHIFTING MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION, THE CLUTCH SUDDENLY LOST TENSION AND WENT THROUGH THE FLOOR. I HAD TO COAST DOWN THE EXIT RAMP, COAST ALONG ANOTHER ROAD BEFORE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED, I REALIZED THAT THE CLUTCH HAD COME LOOSE FROM AND BROKEN THROUGH THE FIREWALL. I WAS FORTUNATE NOT TO HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HAS BROKEN ON BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. THIS HAPPENED ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR TO GET OUT WHILE PARKED. THE DRIVERS SIDE ENTIRE DOOR HAD TO BE REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE PASSENGER DOOR HAS NOT BEEN FIXED YET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE BUMPER BECAME SLIGHTLY DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT LOOKED AT THE AREA OF THE VEHICLE WHERE THE BUMPER NEEDED TO BE RE-ATTACHED AND NOTICED THAT THE METAL INNER BUMPER WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. WHEN TOUCHING THE INNER BUMPER, IT IMMEDIATELY DISINTEGRATED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
I PARKED MY VEHICLE AY HOME, AND WHEN I WENT TO GET OUT, THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE BROKE RIGHT OFF. THE ONLY WAY TO GET OUT WAS TO ROLL DOWN THE ELECTRIC WINDOW AND REACH OUT TO THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE. FROM SOME RESEARCH I DID THIS BREAKING OFF IS A COMMON PROBLEM. WHAT I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT IF FOR SOME REASON LIKE AN ACCIDENT I COULDN'T GET THE WINDOW DOWN, I WOULD BE STUCK IN THE VEHICLE.
THE CAR HAS HAD THE A/C FAN MOTOR REPLACED AT LEAST 4 TIMES, EACH TIME IT WAS DAMAGED BY A WATER LEAK. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED MOTOR ONCE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY BUT STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND/FIX THE LEAK. THIS WAS A LIE BECAUSE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE BUTYL PATCH, EASILY FOUND IN THE MOST BASIC INTERNET SEARCH. THE DOOR HANDLES ARE MADE OF THE CHEAPEST PLASTIC, DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF. THERE IS WATER LEAKING INTO THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE FLOORBOARD WITH NO CAUSE YET FOUND. THE WORST PART OF THIS IS THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NOT COMPLETELY FIXING THE LEAK PROBLEM DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD, THEN CHARGING ME TO FIX IT AGAIN AFTER THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. NOW I CAN'T EVEN GET THEM TO RETURN MY PHONE CALLS REGARDING THE RECALL REPAIRS THEY ARE REQUIRED TO DO. *TR

A LADY RAN A RED LIGHT ON SPRINGRIDGE RD JUST SOUTH OF JACKSON MS. WIFE WAS DRIVING ACROSS SPRINGRIDGE RD. THE LADY FAILED TO YIELD AND STRUCK WIFE IN DRIVERS SIDE TOTALING THREE CARS IN THE PROCESS WIFE WAS SEVERELY INJURED (11 DAYS IN HOSPITAL) NO AIRBAG WAS DEPLOYED DURING ACCIDENT. STILL WORKING ON FULL RECOVERY. *TR UPDATED 10/16/2017*JS THE CONSUMER REQUESTED A STATUS UPDATE AND RECALL INFORMATION. *JS
CONTACT REPORTED THAT DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT OPERATE WITH KEY FOB NOR WHEN ACTIVATING THE DOOR LOCK SWITCHES ON THE DOOR. TOOK VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS TRYING TO GET THE IGNITION RECALL FIXED WHICH TOOK A TOTAL OF FOUR VISITS. WHILE CAR WAS IN FOR RECALL, ADDRESSED AN UNRELATED ELECTRICAL SOLENOID PROBLEM AND ASKED THE DEALER TO LOOK AT THE DOOR LOCK ISSUE. DEALER NOTIFIED OWNER THAT PASSENGER DOOR AND REAR SEAT LEFT AND RIGHT DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAD FAILED (3 OF 4 TOTAL). ASKED DEALER IF THEY HAD SEEN THIS UNUSUAL CONDITION ON ANY OTHER HHR'S AND THEY SAID NO. SHOWED THEM THE 30+ ISSUES LOGGED ON THIS SITE AND THEY ONLY COMMENTED THAT THE HHR WAS NOT THE BEST GM PRODUCT EVER BUILT BUT THERE WAS NO DEALER FIX FOR THIS ISSUE. CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT IT WOULD BE $340 PER DOOR TO FIX AND SERVICE WAS...

AIR BAG LIGHT COME ON IN THE PASSAGE SET WHEN KNOW ONE IN THE SET.THE STEERING MADE FUNNY POPPING NOISE. AN ALL THE DOOR HANDLE BROKE WHERE YOU COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE AUTO. AND THE CAR SHOW ON CAR FAX THAT IT IS A BUY BACK AUTO. BUT GM SAY IT NOT. AND ONE OF THE HANDLE IS BREAKING ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMPUTER BOARD HAD BECOME WET. THE TECHNICIAN WAS NOT ABLE TO SPECIFICALLY DETERMINE THE FAILURE THAT ALLOWED THE WATER TO ENTER THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THERE WERE REPAIRS MADE TO THE COMPUTER BOARD. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS 50,000.
WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH OUR HHR SINCE WE BOUGHT IT IN AUGUST OF 2007. THE FIRST PROBLEM OCCURRED JUST AFTER PURCHASING IT, WHEN WE WERE DRIVING IT OUT ON A HIGHWAY FOR A FIRST TIME OUTING WITH IT, WHEN I NOTICED THE FRONT WHEELS SEEMED TO BE FLOATING BACK AND FORTH. I SLOWED DOWN AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT HOME. WE CONTACTED OUR LOCAL DEALER, AND HAD THE CAR BROUGHT IN TO BE CHECKED OUT. WE WERE TOLD THE FRONT BUSHINGS WERE BAD & NEEDED REPLACING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BUSHINGS. (UNDER WARRANTY) IN SEPTEMBER OF 2007, WE HAD TO REPLACE OUR CARS REMOTE CONTROL, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS ONLY 1 YEARS OLD. OUR DEALER REPLACED IT BUT WE HAD TO PAY $81.82 OUT OF OUR POCKET. OCTOBER 2007, I BROUGHT OUR CAR INTO OUR DEALER BECAUSE IT HAD A ROUGH RIDE AND GROANING SOUNDS. THE DEALER LOOKED AT...
IN 2010 THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF MY HHR BROKE AND FELL DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE DOOR IS TO OPEN THE WINDOW AND OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. I HAD THE IT REPLACED AT COUGHLIN CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN CIRCLEVILLE OHIO.. IN NOVEMBER OF 2013, THE DOOR LATCHES BROKE ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AND THE PASSINGERS SIDE. IF WE USE THE CAR WE HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN SO THAT WE COULD GET OUT IF . THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THIS IS COMMON ON HHR.. IF AN ACCIDENT HAPPEN, WE COULD BE TRAPPED IN THE CAR. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. *JS
I WAS DRIVING IN THE RIGHT LANE GOING WESTBOUND APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES IT DID NOT SLOW DOWN,I PRESSED THE BRAKE HARD AN CAR KEPT GOING INTO THE REAR OF A TRUCK THAT WAS STOPPING AT THE LIGHT. AFTER GETTING HOME ONE DAY I WENT TO OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND THE PART OF THE DOOR HANDLE THAT ATTACHED TO THE WIRE THAT WORKS TO OPEN THE DOOR BROKE. THE DOOR WILL NO LONGER OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. I MUST ROLL DOWN MY WINDOW AND REACH OUTSIDE TO USE THE OUTER HANDLE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE COST TO REPAIR THE HANDLE IS $400, THIS SEEMS TO BE BECAUSE ENTIRE DOOR FRAME NEED TO BE REPLACED. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE, AND I PERSONALLY FIND THAT SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT AND AS NECESSARY AS THE MEANS TO GET OUT OF THE CAR COULD BE SO POORLY CONSTRUCTED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT MONTHS LATER SHE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE KEY BECOMING STUCK IN THE IGNITION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS POWERED ON AND OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

ANOTHER KNOWN ISSUE IS THE CAM POSITION SENSOR A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM NOW HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BEARINGS IN MY FRONT WHEELS WHICH SEEMS TO BE ANOTHER KNOWN ISSUE OTHERS ARE HAVING AS WELL. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR BY USING THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE AFTER OPENING THE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIANS ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE DOOR PANEL WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,800.

IN ADDITION, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE ABNORMALLY WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THAT INSIDE DOOR ASSEMBLY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH BOTH SIDE FRONT ROTORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V046000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO OFFERED TO COVER 25 PERCENT OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF A 2006 CHEVY HHR. CURRENT MILEAGE IS APPROXIMATELY 45500. THREE WEEKS AGO ( 8/14/'11)THE INSIDE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR HANDLE BROKE. WHEN I WENT TO REPAIR THE BROKEN HANDLE, I WAS ADVISED THAT IT IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE DOOR PANEL, AND WOULD COST OVER $400.00 TO REPLACE. I AM NOT IN A POSITION TO REPLACE SUCH AN EXPENSIVE ITEM; I CAN LIVE WITH ROLLING THE WINDOW DOWN AND OPENING THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. NOT ONLY IS THIS INCONVENIENT, BUT IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW. IF I NEED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE IN A HURRY, I CANNOT DO SO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR HANDLE FRACTURED AND HE WAS UNABLE TO EXIT FROM THE VEHICLE. HE STUCK HIS HAND THROUGH THE WINDOW AND OPENED THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 25,000.
THE CAR HAS SEVERAL SAFETY ISSUES. THE MAIN CONCERN IS THAT BOTH OF THE FRONT DOORS HAD THE HANDLES BREAK OFF. YOU CANNOT OPEN THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE. YOU MUST ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. IF THE VEHICLE WERE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT OR CAUGHT ON FIRE AND THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE VEHICLE YOU ARE LITERALLY TRAPPED INSIDE. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF CHEVROLET BUT THEY HAVE FAILED TO DO ANYTHING.I FEEL LIKE THE VEHICLE IS A ROLLING DEATH TRAP. THE OTHER CONCERN IS THAT THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON THE VEHICLE. CHEVROLET DOES NOT MAKE IT A RECALL YET YOU CAN BE DRIVING ALONG AND ALL OF A SUDDEN YOUR POWER STEERING GOES OUT. THE PART IS THE SAME AS THE CHEVROLET COBALT AND CHEVROLET DID A RECALL ON THAT VEHICLE FOR THE VERY SAME POWER STEERING PART.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET HHR. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND THE DOOR HANDLE FRACTURED AND FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE INTERIOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL WAS REPLACED BECAUSE THE PARTS FOR THE DOOR HANDLE WERE NOT SOLD SEPARATELY. APPROXIMATELY 18 MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
EVERYTIME IT RAINS THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD GETS WET. I HAVE REPLACE MY CARPET ONCE AND TRIED TO FIND THE LEAK TO NO AVAIL. *TR
I OWN A 2006 CHEVY HHR LT2, IT HAS APPROX. 52K MILES, AND A RATTLE, VIBRATION IN THE STEERING COLUMN HAS BEEN OCCURRING AT SPEEDS BELOW 45MPH. ALSO, THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR IS CONTINUING TO FLOOD WITH WATER, AND THE HEATER/AC BLOWER HAS FAILED OR SHORTED OUT. LASTLY, I HAVE HAD THE BRAKE ROTORS WORKED ON 4 TIMES BY CHEVY, AND THEY ARE NOW ONCE AGAIN IN NEED OF REPAIR. I RECENTLY TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE RATTLE IN THE STEERING AND THE WATER LEAK. I FOUND NUMEROUS TSB ARTICLES FOR THE ISSUES, BUT THE DEALER AND GM ARE CLAIMING THE TSBS DO NOT EXIST. THE REPAIRS WILL TOTAL MORE THAN $1100. I WAS TOLD THE BUSHINGS, AND TENSION RODS ARE THE PROBLEM WITH MY STEERING, AND THEY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. AT 52K MILES I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THESE ITEMS WOULD FAIL.....
WE HAVE SEVERAL DEFECTS. AFTER NORMAL BRAKING A COUPLE OF TIMES THE CAR AND STEERING WHEEL BEGINS TO SHAKE AND SHIMMY. THE MORE YOU USE THE BRAKES AFTER THIS STARTS THE MORE VIOLENT THE SHIMMY BECOMES UNTIL WE HAVE TO STOP AND LET THE BRAKES COOL DOWN. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ROTORS ONCE BUT COULD OFFER NO EXPLANATION. WE CONTINUE TO BE PLAGUED BY THIS PROBLEM BUT NOW MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER BRAKES AND NO ONE KNOWS OR OWNS UP TO WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE OTHER ISSUE WE HAVE IS THE EXHAUST, SPECIFICALLY THE HEADER PIPE ATTACHED TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WHICH CRACKED AT THE FLEX JOINT. THIS STARTED BACK WHEN WE FIRST EXPERIENCED THE BRAKE PROBLEMS, WE COMPLAINED TO THE SERVICE WRITER THAT THERE WAS A FUNNY SMELL AFTER DRIVING IT FOR A WHILE, HE LOOKED AT IT WHEN IT WAS UP ON THE RACK AND...
