Defect: CERTAIN HONEYWELL FRAM RACING BRAND HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 25, 2006, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 14, 2007, AND SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR VEHICLES LIST ABOVE. THE AFFECTED FILTERS ARE MARKED WITH A DATE CODE A61451 THROUGH A72571 SEQUENTIALLY. THE DATE CODE AND PART NUMBER APPEAR ON THE FILTER HOUSING. FRAM RACING HP4 AND...
Consequence: THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE INADEQUATE SEALING AND LOSS OF ENGINE OIL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 CHEVROLET C2500 WITH HERCULES IRON RADIAL AP TIRES, SIZE 265/75/16, (DOT 3809). THE CONTACT STATED THE TREAD ON THE FRONT PASSENGER AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRES WERE CRACKING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON I-95 IN MY 1994 CHEVROLET C2500 WITH THE 6.5 L NATURALLY ASPIRATED DIESEL, MY TRUCK SUDDENLY STALLED AND I LOST ALL MY ENGINE POWERED COMPONENTS (POWER STEERING, BRAKES, ETC.) I PUSHED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY HARD BUT WAS BARELY SLOWING DOWN. I FINALLY GOT THE TRUCK SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH TO GET OFF ON THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY. I THEN HAD TO SIT THERE FOR 30 MINUTES TO ALLOW THE PUMP MOUNTED DRIVER TO COOL DOWN BEFORE I COULD TURN AROUND AND GARAGE MY VEHICLE. IT HAPPENED SEVERAL (5-10) TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A 30 MILE TRIP. I HAVE SEEN MANY INSTANCES OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHER 6.5L DIESEL OWNERS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THE PUMP MOUNTED DRIVERS (PMDS) ON THIS ENGINE. THEY OVERHEAT AND CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FAIL. I WILL BE REPLACING THE PMD ON MY ENGINE AND THAT WILL TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT IF I WOULD HAVE NEEDED TO BRAKE SUDDENLY WHILE MY ENGINE WAS STALLED. IT *TR

DT: THE CONTACT STATES THAT 1994 CHEVROLET C 2500 SILVERADO HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL WORK AND STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF A CYCLE. THEN, HAS TO WAIT A COUPLE OF MINUTES BEFORE THEY WILL COME AGAIN. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, BUT THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. THE CONTACT CALLED GM, AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT HE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. ALSO, SPOKE WITH HIS LOCAL DEALER, AND THE DEALER INFORMED HIM OF THE SAME THING, HE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. THE CONTACT HAS NOT HAD THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FIXED AS OF YET.*AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS DO NOT WORK SOMETIMES AND DO AT OTHER TIMES. RECENTLY, IN A HEAVY RAIN ON THE HIGHWAY THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DID NOT COME ON WHEN ACTIVATED. AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO THEY SOMETIMES COME ON. OTHER TIMES THEY MAY WORK PERFECTLY. THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY YEAR MODEL AND A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE BUT MY MODEL DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE REPAIR DUE TO VIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AND I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER ON OCCASION, ESPECIALLY WHEN MY FAMILY IS IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE TO CONTINUE DRIVING.
