Defect: CFMOTO POWERSPORTS, INC. (CFMOTO) is recalling certain 2022-2023 700CL-X motorcycles. The ABS control module software settings may delay braking when the hand brake lever is squeezed two or more times, and therefore lengthen the distance required to stop the motorcycle.

Consequence: Delayed braking can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.

The contact stated that the vehicle was parked near a pond. The contact stated that a large nearby object prevented the vehicle from rolling into the pond. In addition, the contact stated that the parking pawl was fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle was scheduled for diagnostic test. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53.
