2007 BUICK LACROSSE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE FUSE BOX AND SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HIS LOCAL MECHANIC, WHERE HE WAS INFORMED HE WAS VERY FORTUNATE THE VEHICLE DID NOT CATCH ON FIRE, BECAUSE THE FUSE BOX HAD MELTED AND THE WIRES HAD BURNED. THE DAMAGE WAS NOT A RESULT OF NEGLIGENCE, BUT WAS CAUSED BY A FLAW IN THE FUSE BLOCK. *JB
THE CAR WAS DRIVEN ON THE FREEWAY. SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING COMING FROM THE HOOD AREA. TAKE THE NEXT EXIT, SMOKE START COMING OUT OF THE HOOD. STOP THE CAR CHECK THE HOOD AND THE UNDERHOOD FUSE BLOCK WAS BURNING. THE WHOLE FUSE IS DAMAGED SO IS THE ENGINE HARNESS. IT LOOKED LIKE THE HEADLAMP DRIVER MODULE AND THE FOG LAMP MICRO-RELAYS WERE THE ONES THAT MELTED FIRST AND CAUSE THE FUSE BOX TO BURN. I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY THE FUSE BOX JUST BURNED THAT'S WHY I STARTED LOOKING ONLINE IF SOMEONE ELSE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. IT SEEMS A FEW PEOPLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. I GUESS THERE ARE UNREPORTED CASES AS WELL. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GET HURT BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A PROBLEM THE 2007 BUICK LACROSSE HAS. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN FIXED YET. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THE PART WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE HEADLIGHTS WILL TURN OFF LEAVING YOU TRAVELLING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AT 60 TO 75 MPH (DEPENDING ON WHAT TYPE OF HIGHWAY, INTERSTATE OR LIMITED ACCESS ROADWAY YOU ARE ON). THIS LEAVES YOU MOVING WITH NO IDEA WHERE THERE IS A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER TO GET OUT OF THE TRAVEL LANES. THIS HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES, AND I AM ASKING TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE EXPENSE OF REPAIRING THIS DEFECT. *TR

THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
A IMPROPERLY SHIELDED WIRE GROUNDED OUT AND CAUSED THE UNDER HOOD FUSEBLOCK TO MELT, SOME REPORTS ON LINE STATE THAT THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE FROM THE SAME PROBLEM. CAME OUT OF RESTAURANT AND CAR WOULDN'T START. WHEN THE HOOD WAS RAISED WE COULD SMELL BURNING RUBBER. HAD I BEEN DRIVING IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY SERIOUS REPORTED TO GM TO TRY TO GET REIMBURSED. SAID BECAUSE IT WASN'T ON RECALL THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP US. THE PURPOSE OF THE FUSE BOX AS WE UNDERSTAND IS TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT BOTH HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO WORK WITHOUT WARNING HEADLIGHT RELAY FAILED SEVERAL INCIDENTS POSTED ON LINE. AFTER ARRIVING AT WORK WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE BECAUSE BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLES FAILED TO OPEN THE DOOR. CAR IS CURRENTLY AT A BODY SHOP ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DOOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 BUICK LACROSSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE ENTERED A DRIVEWAY AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE FUSE BOX WAS ON FIRE. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND REMOVED THE FUSE BOX. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BUICK LACROSSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT INSIDE OF RELAY/FUSE BOX. *TR
THE LOW BEAMS ON THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN FLICKERING ON AND OFF AT NIGHT FOR A FEW DAYS. THEN THE LOW BEAMS WOULD NOT COME ON AT ALL ON THE NIGHT OF DECEMBER 2, 2012, HIGH BEAMS WORKED BUT THE SMELL OF BURNING PLASTIC FILLED THE CAR AND I IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND ONE OF THE RELAYS, PRESUMABLY THE LOW BEAM RELAY, BURNED AND MELTED INSIDE THE FUSE BLOCK CAUSING A SMALL FIRE INSIDE THE FUSE COMPARTMENT WHICH FORTUNATELY CONTAINED THE FIRE BUT DESTROYED THE ENTIRE FUSE PANEL (BLOCK). THIS APPEARS TO BE A WELL DOCUMENTED AND COMMON PROBLEM ON THE 2007 BUICK LACROSSE AND YET THERE IS NO RECALL. THIS IS A TOP TIER SAFETY CONCERN AS IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THERE IS A FATALITY ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I HAD THE CAR REPAIRED AT A BUICK DEALER FOR...

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SMOKE WAS ALSO EMITTING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE SMOKE HAD ORIGINATED FROM THE FUSE BOX, WHICH HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BUT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT, VEHICLE LIGHTS WENT DIM, THEN OUT COMPLETELY. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD. SMELLED FIRE, OPENED HOOD, SMOKE COMING FROM FUSE BLOCK / BOX UNDER HOOD. LOOKED AT FUSE BLOCK AND SEVERAL RELAYS WERE MELTED AND HAD MELTED A PORTION OF FUSE BLOCK. THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS LIKE THIS POSTED ONLINE. *TR
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS NOW NOT TURNING ON AT NIGHT OR THEY BEGIN TO FLICKER ON AND OFF CAUSING ME TO DRIVE WITH MY HIGH BEAMS ON.. BUT TODAY I SMELLED AN ELECTRICAL FIRE AS I PARKED AND EXITED MY CAR AND SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND IT TURNS OUT THE RELAY FOR THE HEADLAMPS WAS BURNING AND MELTED. I REMOVED IT BUT IT CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE OTHER RELAYS NEXT TO THIS ONE AND MELTED THE ACTUAL FUSE CENTER. I HAVEN'T CHECKED FOR POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO OTHER COMPONENTS OF MY CAR YET BUT I WILL IN THE MORNING... THIS LOOKS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE OF VEHICLE AND STILL NO RECALL HAS BEEN MADE.. *TR
NIGHT HIGHWAY DRIVING THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY GO OUT. BAD. HIGH BEAMS ARE OK. FOG LIGHTS ARE OK FORTUNATELY SO I COULD DRIVE HOME SAFELY. TURN SIGNALS NORMAL. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ONE NIGHT THE LOW BEAMS SUDDENLY WENT OUT. I WAS FORCE TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER. INSIDE THE CAR I COULD SMELL SOMETHING BURNING, SOMETHING ELECTRICAL. ONCE I PULLED OVER I NOTICE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THAT THE FUSE BLOCK UNDER THE HOOD WAS ON FIRE, WHICH HOLD FUSES AND RELAYS. THE TWO RELAYS THAT WAS AFFECTED WERE THE LOW BEAM AND HIGH WINDSHIELD WIPER, SO THEY NO LONGER WORK. *TR

WHEN THE CONTACT APPROACHED THE VEHICLE, HE BEGAN TO INSPECT UNDERNEATH THE HOOD AREA AND NOTICED THE FUSE BOX AND WIRES WERE BURNT SEVERELY. THERE WERE NO FLAMES PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
DRIVING A DISTANCE OF THREE MILES CAR STALLED FIVE TIMES. STARTED AGAIN EACH TIME DEALERSHIP SOLD ME A NEW BATTERY THREE DAYS LATER--ACCELERATION QUIT, GOING DOWN THE ROAD IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR WITH NO RESPONSE. ABLE TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF KEY AND THEN START AGAIN AND PROCEED. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE COMPUTER SHOWED NO PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. TWO DAYS LATER THE CAR STALLED IN MY MOBILE HOME PARK, STARTED THEN STALLED AND WOULDN'T START. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR IT WOULDN'T. THEN WHEN I TRIED TO START AGAIN AND RELEASED THE KEY, THE STARTER GRABBED THE KEY AND KEPT GRINDING MOMENTARILY. THEN WHEN I TRIED TO START IT THE STARTER CLICKED AS IF IT WERE GONE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BUICK LACROSSE. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS AND HEADLIGHTS DIMMED TWICE. THE SECOND TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED WAS WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. WHEN THE CONTACT MOVED THE DIMMER BUTTON, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AGAIN, BUT THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS ILLUMINATED INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL BEAMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY FOUND NO FAILURES; HOWEVER, THEY REPLACED A PART. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE OF WHICH PART WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, IT DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
