THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V415000 (STRUCTURE); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.

WHEN IT REACHED THE TOP, HER HUSBAND STARTED TO REACH FOR THE ITEMS. WITHOUT WARNING, THE VERY HEAVY LIFTGATE DROPPED ABOUT 18-24 INCHES, HITTING HIM ON THE FOREHEAD AND CUTTING A PERFECT V WHICH MATCHED THE DESIGN OF THE LATCH.
