Defect: BMW North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 S 1000 RR motorcycles manufactured June 8, 2016, to November 16, 2016, and 2017 S 1000 R motorcycles manufactured on October 12, 2016. One of the bolts on the rear suspension deflection lever may loosen and adversely affect the handling of the motorcycle.
Consequence: If the bolt loosens and affects the motorcycle's handling, there may be an increased risk of a crash.
Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the bolts and tighten them to the proper specifications, free of charge. The recall began February 17, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
