MOTORCYCLE STALLS IN TRAFFIC WHEN CLUTCH IS PULLED IN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OVER THE LAST 500 MILES. THE MOTORCYCLE NOW HAS AROUND 3,400 MILES. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE BMW, BUT AT THIS TIME THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX. *TR
I HAVE A BRAND NEW BMW K1300S MOTORCYCLE WITH BARELY 1000 MILES ON IT THAT STALLS A RANDOM INTERVALS AND TYPICALLY WHEN GOING TO IDLE. THIS HAS CAUSED THE BACK TIRE TO LOCK UP/SKID AND COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN A FALL. OTHER RIDERS HAVE BEEN INJURED AND ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED ON THESE BIKES. BMW KNOWS BUT CAN NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. IT IS A VERY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS BIKE. *TR
PURCHASED NEW 2010 BMW K1300S MOTORCYCLE FROM RIDE WEST BMW, LAKE CITY WAY, SEATTLE. UNIT HAD 3 MILES ON ODOMETER ON DELIVERY. AT 5PM I LEFT THE DEALER (THEY ALSO CLOSE AT 5PM) AND HEADED HOME, APPROXIMATELY 32 MILES. THE BIKE STALLED WITHIN THE FIRST TWO MILES WHILE DOWNSHIFTING ON THE ON-RAMP TO I-5 SOUTH. I IMMEDIATELY REALIZED WHAT HAPPENED AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND CONTINUE HOME. THE NEXT 27 MILES HAD NO ISSUE. UPON EXITING THE FREEWAY AND DOWNSHIFTING IT IMMEDIATELY STALLED AND ONCE AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND CONTINUE TO MY HOME. THE LAST STALL OCCURRED AS I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE DEALER ON 9/29 WHEN THEY OPEN TO DISCUSS THIS ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT NUMEROUS OTHERS WHO HAVE APPARENTLY EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. PROBLEM REPORTED BY SEVERAL OWNERS. THE PROBLEM CAUSES SEVERAL SAFETY RISKS INCLUDING A REAR-END IMPACT FROM A FOLLOWING VEHICLE, REAR WHEEL LOCKUP ON CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT, LOSS OF CONTROL IN A SLOW SPEED TURN OR ISSUES RELATED TO A RIDER DISTRACTED WHILE ATTEMPTING ENGINE RESTART. *TR
