Defect: NAVISTAR IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 BEAVER AND CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2011 MONACO, AND CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2009-2011 HOLIDAY RAMBLER RECREATIONAL VEHICLES, MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 25, 2007, THROUGH AUGUST 26, 2010, EQUIPPED WITH IOTA ITS-50R 50 AMP AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCHES. THE IOTA ITS-50R 50 AMP AUTOMATIC TRANSFER SWITCH BUS BAR AND/OR ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS MAY BE INADEQUATE TO HANDLE THE...
Consequence: ELECTRICAL OVERLOAD OF THE TRANSFER SWITCH COULD LEAD TO OVERHEATING, AND A FIRE, INCREASING THE RISK OF PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH.
Remedy: NAVISTAR WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE IOTA ITS-50R TRANSFER SWITCH FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 15, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NAVISTAR AT 1-800-448-7825.

Defect: KONGSBERG POWER PRODUCTS SYSTEMS I, INC., (KPPS) IS RECALLING ON BEHALF OF MONACO COACH CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 MOTOR HOMES MANUFACTURED AFTER APRIL 2007 AND EQUIPPED WITH PNEUMATIC AND HYDRAULIC ADJUSTABLE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLIES SUPPLIED BY KPPS. THE DRIVE PIN WHICH SECURES THE BRAKE PEDAL ARM TO THE BALANCE OF THE ASSEMBLY MAY BECOME DISENGAGED, THIS MAY CAUSE A REDUCTION...
Consequence: A REDUCTION IN BRAKING OR INTERFERENCE WITH THE THROTTLE PEDAL COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

Defect: MONACO IS RECALLING 238 MY 2008-2009 SAFARI CHEETAH, BEAVER CONTESSA, AND MY 2009 MONTEREY CLASS A MOTORHOMES EQUIPPED WITH C7 OR C9 CATERPILLAR DIESEL ENGINES. THE FUEL PUMP OUTLET CHECK PLUG MAY BE CRACKED WHICH COULD CAUSE FUEL TO SPRAY AND LEAK.
Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: MONACO IS WORKING WITH CATERPILLAR (PLEASE SEE 08E042). CATERPILLAR WILL REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP PLUG FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING SEPTEMBER 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CATERPILLAR AT-1-800-447-4986 OR MONACO AT 1-888-685-6545.

Defect: ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH ATWOOD SEALED BURNER RANGES, THE RANGE AND SLIDE-IN BURNER TUBES LEADING FROM THE GAS MANIFOLD TO THE BURNER HEADS HAD A DEPRESSION OR 'KINK' IN THE EXTERIOR BEND RESTRICTING PROPER AIRFLOW AND GAS MIXTURE.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING.

NHTSA RECALL 12V060000 WAS ISSUED FOR DEFECTIVE ELECTRICAL TRANSFER SWITCHES MANUFACTURED BY IOTA ENGINEERING (AN EXISTING COMPANY). NAVISTAR ON BEHALF OF MONACO RV WAS NAMED RESPONSIBLE FOR CORRECTING THIS DEFECT. MONACO COACH (A DEFUNCT COMPANY ACQUIRED BY NAVISTAR) INSTALLED THESE SAME TRANSFER SWITCHES IN LIKE MODEL MOTOR HOMES PRIOR TO THEIR FAILURE. FOR THOSE OF US WITH THESE DEFECTIVE SWITCHES INSTALLED BY MONACO COACH AND NOT MONACO RV WE ARE NOT BEING PROVIDED ANY PROTECTION BY THE NHTSA FOR A KNOWN PROBLEM. WHY HASN'T THE NHTSA NAMED IOTA ENGINEERING AS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACEMENT OF THESE DEFECTIVE SWITCHES? IOTA ENGINEERING CLAIMS THE FAILURES TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH MONACO'S INSTALLATION (MONACO RV AND MONACO COACH). IN AT LEAST ONE CASE, PROBABLY OTHERS, THE FAILURE IS DIRECTLY APPLICABLE TO IOTA ENGINEERING AND NOT THE INSTALLER OF THEIR PRODUCT.
