The “Depress Brake Pedal and Press START button” messages appeared on the instrument panel even though the contact was following the instructions. The contact called an independent mechanic where the vehicle was purchased and was referred to the NHTSA for assistance. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
