Defect: ALTEC IS RECALLING CERTAIN AT35-G, AT37-G, AT235, AND AT237 AERIAL DEVICES MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 2005 THROUGH OCTOBER 2008. THESE UNITS ARE EQUIPPED WITH BILLET STEEL COUNTERWEIGHT THAT IS WELDED IN PLACE. IN THE EVENT OF WELD FAILURE, THE COUNTERWEIGHT MAY FALL OUT WHILE TRAVELLING.
Consequence: IF THESE STEEL PIECES FALL IN THE PATH OF THE VEHICLE OR OTHER TRAFFIC, A VEHICLE CRASH INVOLVING DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY MAY RESULT.
Remedy: ALTEC HAS DEVELOPED KITS TO IMPROVE THE ATTACHMENT OF THE BILLET STEEL COUNTERWEIGHTS. CUSTOMERS AT THEIR OPTION MAY PERFORM THE REPAIR OR HAVE A DEALER INSTALL THE KIT FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING APRIL...
