2014 ACURA RDX Electrical System Problems

Acura RDX headlight problem, dimming headlights, which is a known issue according to the Acura dealership service department in Brentwood, TN. The Acura technician stated that this is often caused by delaminating reflector film, and flickering headlights, which can result from faulty relays or wiring. The dimming makes it hard to see while driving during sundown. Driving with the high beam on causes problems for oncoming traffic. Acura acknowledged the issue, and a recall addressed the delamination issue for some models, but not the 2014 RDX. For my models, Acura stated the internal reflector is damaged, and replacing bulbs will not help. The most effective solution is to replace the headlight assembly or the entire projector housing, which can be a costly repair.

Headlights (low beam) have become dim, unsafe, difficult to see when driving, reflector is defective.

The diminished light output of the low beam headlights began to diminish visibility so significantly that it was reported to the dealer at 89,000 miles, in March 2020. The dealer response was "normal operation of the headlights compared to other RDX." The driver's visibility is now decreased to the point the visibility is like only the lo output driving lights are on. Hi beams have to be used when driving at night. This reduced output decreased driver's visibility and increases the risk of a crash. Improper usage of high beams impacts oncoming vehicles, increasing the risk of a head on collision. UNABLE TO SEE WITH HIGH OR LOW BEAMS AT NIGHT. PEOPLE FLASH THEIR HIGH BEAMS AT ME MEANWHILE I CAN'T SEE THE ROAD.
